Give radiators a factory-quality finish without affecting performance by choosing Eastwood Radiator Paint in Satin Black. Normal engine paints are too thick for radiators; using them will interfere with heat transfer and block airflow over the cooling fins. Also, standard paint tends to flake off metal radiator tanks.
Eastwood Radiator Black aerosol spray is how to paint your car radiator quickly and effectively. This aluminum radiator paint is specially formulated to solve these problems and is heat resistant to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. The durable enamel formula also resists under-hood chemicals and chips. Meanwhile, the satin finish offers a lower sheen than regular gloss that is more similar to the factory paints used on modern plastic tank radiators.
Visit the Eastwood Garage to learn more about why you should choose Eastwood heat-resistant radiator paint over standard spray paint, and how to paint a car radiator. One can covers six square feet; note that most radiators require two cans (which you can order at a discount). We offer lifetime technical support with DIY experts who can answer all your questions.

Seems to be a good product.Used to make an aluminum radiator in a nostalgic Model A build look a little more original. Website recommends two cans for most radiators but I was able to cover my radiator fine with only one. Seems to be holding up well so far.

Great for radiators, condensers, and transmission coolersReally easy to use, it’s thin but covered well. I applied 2 coats and achieved total coverage from an aluminum radiator to black without sanding

Great radiator paint.Applied to aluminum radiator. Scuffed all I could with red scotch pad first. Cleaned with laquer thinner. Sprayed a light mist coat first. 20 minutes later applied light full coat. 20minutes later a second light full coat. Let it cure for 2-3 days. Started engine, up to temperature for 10 minutes. Cool down about 3-4 hours. Started took a 1 hour drive. It's a month later and looks good, no problems.
Bought 2 cans, used less than one on a small 17x21 inch core radiator.

Worked after testingBeware like others have said, it can bubble paint. I did some testing on a piece of aluminum. I sprayed a coat and let it dry for 20 minutes. Then sprayed a second coat and all was well. I then sprayed two light coats on the outside of the radiator and condenser. I masked off the engine side of it and the area that was hidden by the condenser etc. When we went to mount it, the brackets moved a little so I needed to do a little touchup. I sprayed some in a cup and used a brush and it bubbled the paint that it touched. What was interesting is the test piece was out in the sun all day and over night. I tested it and it did not bubble. Hence, do recoats within 20 minutes to be safe and let it cook out in the sun after the last coat if possible.
Yes, Eastwood Radiator Black can be used on brass radiators. However, it is important to note that the product does not require a primer coat before application on brass surfaces. This ensures proper adhesion and maintains the radiator's cooling efficiency.

Can this be sprayed over an etch primer or directly over aluminum radiators?
Asked by: Anonymous
It is specifically formulated for radiators, including aluminum and modern plastic tank radiators. The paint is thin enough to avoid interfering with heat transfer or airflow between cooling fins. Yes, the Eastwood Radiator Black Satin Finish Spray can be applied over a self-etching primer. It is generally not required to use a primer on radiators.
