Eastwood Matte Clear Quart Kit

Product Overview:

Description

Eastwood's premium Matte Clear Single-Stage Acrylic Urethane Topcoat provides exceptional long-lasting beauty and durability.

  • 1-quart Matte Clear Automotive Paint
  • 8-fl.-oz. Activator required
  • Catalyzed urethane for unsurpassed durability
  • Highly resistant to UV rays, chemicals, chips

Some project rods just won't look finished until you've put on that distinctive, matte car paint finish. Our paint is the only way to go! This premium 2-component topcoat system is blended with top-quality raw materials and advanced composition coatings technology. Superior to acrylic, alkyd and lacquer coatings. Eastwood's single-stage urethane paints hold their gloss longer and won't yellow.

Sure, some like to "drive her in primer", or opt for a quick "rattle-can" paint job, but this activated, single-step acrylic urethane car paint is a smarter and much longer-lasting choice! Mix 3:1 with activator; no further reduction required.

Use this kit with Eastwood's premium single-stage urethane paints or other manufacturer's base-coat systems. May even be used over factory finishes in good condition. Matte Clear is also ideal for interior parts, underhood components, hobbies and crafts.

Not for sale or use in California. Eastwood Paints are formulated to meet National Rule VOC regulations; check with your local and state guidelines as some areas may have stricter regulations than others. Two medium coats will achieve a 10-15% gloss level.

Other finish options include applying over Eastwood's 21855ZP Satin Black to produce a 0% gloss. May also be mixed with EW European Urethane Clears to achieve a variety of gloss levels.

Application Tips

Clean surfaces of all contaminants. Abrade surface to be painted with a minimum of 320-grit sandpaper, working up to a 600-grit for maximum adhesion. Re-clean surface. After shaking paint, mix 3 parts paint with 1 part activator. Use caution mixing materials as paint may begin to gel after 2 hours at 70°F. HVLP gun setting: 28-32 PSI, with a 1.4mm-1.8mm tip. This color is formulated to give complete coverage in 2-3 coats. Allow 10 minutes flash time between coats; should be tack-free in 45-60 minutes, with full cure in 18 hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is some good stuff I’ve been painting for quite a while and I’ve used almost every brand of paint you can think of in the last 27 years. Matte clears tend to be expensive from the big name brands or yuu have to buy additives to put in the gloss clear to dull it down and that always ends up either leaving white specs or doesn’t come out even as the premade flat clears. This stuff came out absolutely fantastic. I added a splash of reducer to it to help level it out which isn’t required but is totally fine to do as per the cans instructions. I applied the first coat wet and it dries very quickly and ready for the second coat within about 10 minutes or so. It is out of dust quickly which is really good since you can’t sand and buff. I’m super impressed with the product and I will buy this again for any matte clear jobs I have to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Licea Guitars Sprays The Matt Clear Believe it or not, I used the Matt clear on my guitars! Sprayed really well and dried to a beautiful satin finish completely even. I used a little more reducer because the clear is kind of thick but once thinned it sprays really well, it’s also a very tuff finish.
