Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bender Excellent tool for fabricating brackets and anything that'll fit in the span. The ease of operation is incredible and it came with all the right attachments to do most anything we need it for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very capable brake This is a capable electromagnetic brake. The open top allows for great capabilities for folding a boxed in section. We have made closed rectangle, octagon and hexagon pieces without the interference a traditional brake would give. We have folded full width 16 gauge mild steel with no issue. The ability to bend a radius around a piece of steel pipe is a cool feature. Compared to the Baileigh, this one doesn't need a buck transformer to drop the 240v residential AC to 220v, which is a savings. Additionally, there was no wait (backorder) to get this one and it is cheaper than the Baileigh. Unfortunately, they are all made in China so we are hoping the unit will give years of trouble free service. The only negative is that the scale is not correct. It does bend close to a 90 degree as indicated, but a 45 degree bend needs the stop set at 35 as indicated on the scale. Not a major problem, just need to do some test bends on scrap material to find the right setting. That's a good idea anyway as the amount of spring back will vary with material, thickness and width.

Questions & Answers

For Radius bends, how large can the radius bends be, and how accurate are they? Since there is no bottom roller like a traditional radius brake, is the curve clean and accurate, especially with a larger radius?

Asked by: dfly
FORMING A RADIUSED/ROLLED EDGE ON A PANEL The Bender is operated as it is with “Normal, Straight Bends” however rolled edges are formed by wrapping the workpiece around a steel bar or piece of thick-walled pipe. • Reverse the orientation of the Clamp Bar so that the vertical edge is facing outward, toward the Bending Beam. • Move the Clamp Bar back from the front edge of the Base Deck distance of the pipe or bar diameter. NOTE: DO NOT exceed 3/4” diameter of bar or pipe to avoid placing it too far into the magnetic field which would diminish the effectiveness. • Place the steel bar or pipe on the Base Deck with the outer circumference flush with the front edge of the Base Deck and against the vertical edge of the Clamp Bar. • This will allow a 90° radius. To curve the material more than 90°, move the workpiece inward so that the curved material is between the bar or pipe and the vertical edge of the Clamp Bar. Is it possible mount wheels on this tool?  I’d like to be able to move it around the shop.

Asked by: Swing42
It appears to have holes for mounting it to a floor. It may be possible to bolt wheels to it.

I see the unit says it can bend 16g steel but your also saying the max limit of alum is 16g. the steel is much harder to bend than alum so why 16g for both for steel and alum ??

Asked by: Andrei
You are right, but because this brake uses an electromagnet to clamp the top bar down on the material small distance increases have a significant effect on clamping force. Material thicker than 16 ga reduced the clamping force enough we were not comfortable rating it for more than 16 ga.

I need to bend brass flat sheets with a notch cut where the bend is to occur. What is the maximum thickness of brass this machine can bend?

Asked by: jasonct27
We do not recommend bending anything thicker than 16 gauge.

How does this unit compare to the roper/whitnen magnabend and the baileigh magnetic benders? Also since this is in close out, will replacement parts be available?

Asked by: Luke
This is directly comparable to Baileigh's 240V 48" electro brake. I only see a 120V Roper Whitney 48" model so this is significantly stronger than that. This product is not in closeout, we fully intend to continue selling this. We do have replacement parts available and have no problem backing our 1 year warranty.

What is the weight of the heaviest one solid piece component, as delivered? I'm looking to see what I would need to do to transport this unit from the delivery truck to the house.

Asked by: PeterD
The main body of the unit is by far the heaviest piece - it has the electro magnet and base for bending. I would guess it weighs at least 200 lbs. It could be moved with a hand truck.

Will this work with a 1-Phase Buck/Boost Step-Up Transformer - 208V Primary - 240V Secondary - 23.4Amps - 50/60Hz or do I need more current Buck and Boost Transformer - 208V Primary - 240V Secondary - 46.8 Amps on Secondary - 50/60Hz?

Asked by: Mark
This will work with a 23.4 amp buck boost transformer.
