During the winter months, vehicles are blasted by road salt, brine & ice melt causing metal parts and body panels to rust and corrode. Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Road Salt Neutralizer I mixed some of this product with a gallon of water and sprayed it allover the engine compartment, then I power washed it. In Maine we use plenty of road salt and after the winter the engine compartment had a solid film on it. After the treatment all components were free of salt residue and it pretty much looked like new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Road Salt Neutralizer just received the product and applied as soon as it arrived so we could put salt equipment away. So far so good we will see next winter when we start to salt how well it works. Web site thumbs down, customer service thumbs up. product arrived as expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! We bought this to help with the upkeep of our fleet of trucks, especially after plowing snow. It works as described, the salt residue and caked on salt comes right off as you spray the product on. We have had no residual salt on the trucks after rinsing and washing them when using this product.

Does this product absolutely have to be washed off with water? Will it cause damage if sprayed and left?

Asked by: MikeR
In order for it work properly and fully neutralize the salt, it needs to dwell on the surface for a few minutes especially if the salt residue had dried. This process will take longer the colder it is. That is why we recommend a 5 minute dwell time before rinsing. Washing it off immediately will negate it's effectiveness. Leaving it in place will only cause some temporary spotting on the vehicle surfaces similar to dry spots left by hard water. They can be dissolved later with water and soap. In fact, If the vehicle is to be driven in wet salty conditions, leaving the solution on the vehicle is preferred as it does provide some small measure of protection as it becomes wet and reactivated.

In Montana the DOT uses a liquid form of ice melt to fight road ice and slush. Will this product work to stop this nasty stuff from eating up and spotting chrome trim, wheels and stainless steel side tube bars if used as you suggest?

Asked by: montanabill
Yes, this product would work well for the scenario in reference. It will need to be re applied every so often for best results though.
