This stuff works exactly as I expected. I bought my first gallon of Eastwood rust dissolver MANY years ago and it still works well. The only caveat I have is if you're cleaning rust from bolts, nuts and washers, make sure that -- after your rinse them -- you place them in a container, spray them down with WD40 and shake them up. I was experimenting with a big pile of miscellaneous hardware car and motorcycle folks accumulate, and found that the parts will look as bad afterwards if you forget to lubricate them as I did! (The "good" news is that they will all be the same color rust!) ;-) After another short soaking my parts cleaned up perfectly once again and I was ready to lube and store them.

Great product
I never used the gel so I bought a quart when I purchased a quart of the "regular" product. More gel-like than liquid, but not exactly what I expected. No matter, it works well; I was pleased. I bought my first gallon of Eastwood rust dissolver MANY years ago and it still works as expected. Don't forget to lubricate your parts with something like WD-40 after you wash them... unless our plan is to paint them right away. In that case, prep as appropriate.

Works good
Works very well , I used it not only on iron/steel but aluminum Stromberg 97 bodies and it did I great job. Caution! Do not leave aluminum in longer that 10-15 minutes as it will eat it up but I had no issue with the short about of time I left it in.

I have a car that had a vinyl top on it and because of that, there is some decent pitting along with surface rust. Would the Rust dissolver or rust encapsulator be better for treating the rust?
With either you need to remove as much rust a s possible.

Can it be used on an aluminum pontoon toon?
The Gel and Liquid Dissolver are acid based solutions and can damage Aluminum. We would not recommend this be used for an application of this sort.

I have a Dewalt titanium coated drill bet set that got wet. All the bits have spot rust. Will this remover damage the titanium coating if I soak them?
Just a correction, the product states “Acid Free”, but most likely, your bits have either lost some coating or are dirty from some very small metal shavings or the water that came in contact was imbedded with iron oxide from another tool. If the bits are sharp and functioning, wipe them down with a spray lubricant.

if I use the gel on my car in the rusty spots. will it eat the surounding paint. or paint that it touches.??

After application do you wash it off before paint/primer and if so with what? Also what kind of primer to use after. Application?
Yes, this is to be removed before proceeding. The instructions state to rinse with water but Acetone would be a better option. As far as primer- a sealing primer should be used like Epoxy or Self Etch.

Can I use this to remove bubbled up corroded rust on my metal support beams, not sure what type of steel they are?
If there is no existing paint down then yes. You will still want to use a wire brush/disc to knock off as much lose or scaling rust as you can prior to applying and using this.

I used this product to remove rust from some old nuts and bolts and they have become copper plated. why?
Some manufacturers use copper plating as an intial plating step, to obtain better adhestion of the next coating, in a longer series of layered plating steps. I suspect your bolts lost the outer plating coating(s) and were left with (some of) the original copper plating coat after rust removal cleaning. Unsure how that coating would then behave soaking in rust remover.

Hi, will your product work on a gun without removing the blueing?
If the gun blue is rust based ("rust bluing", a somewhat lengthy process) then essentially all rust disolvers will remove the gun bluing along with the other rust. Evapo-rust product will remove gun blue also. Is why gunsmiths have hot salt bluing tanks and or hot boxes to reblue rusted guns. The latter (salt solution/ hot box/ rust bluing) you can do yourself if you are careful. Google it. Some antique machinist tools were blued and essentially all rust removers will remove that bluing down to metal as well.
