HOW TO: get this paint off skinthis is my third time using this product, literally nothing else compares! i just wanted to inform those of you who didn’t wear a full hazmat suit and got it all over yourself like i did. USE CARBOLIC ACID SOAP. i tried brake clean, turpentine, paint thinner, etc, to try to get this paint off my skin, nothing worked! i just had to wait it out and let it peel off itself over the next couple weeks. UNTIL! i’ve been using carbolic acid soap for acne and was absolutely shocked to find that it also made this paint come right off! you can buy it on Amazon, it’s red! thank me later!

Super ServiceI purchased Platinum rust encapsulation for my John Deere tractor restoration project. I never used Eastwood rust products and had several questions, so I called Tech Support and spoke with Bill G.
I cleaned the rusted areas, cleaned with lacquer thinner, and sprayed the area and applied tow coats of Platinum encapsulation. It went on smoothly and looks great. I would definitely recommend Eastwood and rust control products.

Above and BeyondUsed this product on three occasions and it covers evenly, flowing out quite well when brushed on. By following all instructions and precautions, application and finished product is above and beyond the competitors.
Rust Encapsulators are moisture cure coatings, so be careful with too much humidity. The recommended humidity range for applying Rust Encapsulator Platinum is between 10% and 75%.

do I need to use epoxy primer to top coat with automotive paint
Asked by: George
Optional, not needed. The Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Platinum can be top-coated. It is designed to be compatible with almost any high-quality paint system. If top-coating within 48 hours of applying the Rust Encapsulator Platinum, no additional surface preparation is needed. If top-coating after 48 hours, scuff the surface lightly with 320-grit sandpaper before applying the topcoat.

I need to coat the inside of an ice chest that was once galvanized. It has been sand blasted, but still has some minor remaining rust. Will this product hold up to extreme cold? It says it will handle 350 degree heat
Asked by: Randy
It would work. But note: Keep in mind that Rust Encapsulator is not food-safe, so it should not be applied to areas that will come into direct contact with food or beverages. If the ice chest is intended for storing consumables, consider using a food-safe coating over the encapsulated surface.

Do you have flat black?
Asked by: Joey
Rust Encapsulator PLATINUM is an aluminum/silver like finish. You can get the black finish with regular Rust Encapsulator or Encapsulator Plus. Be sure to check those out.

Are two coats of Platinum Rust Encapsulator recommended? Is it advisable to apply two coats? What is the recommended wait time between applications?
Asked by: Joe K
2 coats of any coating is a good recommendation and process always. Yes. The flash time for Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Platinum is 10-15 minutes between coats or until the surface becomes tacky.

I have a car roof with some pitted rust spots - Can I apply platinum over properly prepped scuffed LAQUER paint along with the pitted rust ?
Asked by: ray40
Today's coatings have much more advanced technology. Urethanes, Epoxy and such can be aggressive and tend to lift Lacquer products. It would be best and recommended to remove any under lying Lacquer products or coatings for best results and adhesion.

How many layers can I put on frame for maximum effect? Can I leave this on the frame only or does it need a primer and top coat?
Asked by: Rodblackman
This can be applied to a frame on it's own. Two coats would be best and this Platinum version is the most rugged and has UV protection. Be sure that there is nothing loose as far as rust and to wipe down with a good PRE cleaner before application.

I need to paint a flathead motor that I will need to take apart. With POR 15 I would need a torch, a grinder, and chemicals to remove the bolts. Would I be able to remove bolts after using this product?
Asked by: Bill
There are better fit Ceramic coating products such as engine primers and paints available for this. Encapsulator isn't really designed for engine applications.
