Love this productGreat product. It helped me restore my rusted Minnesota work van and give it years more of service in my business. Combine this product with proper surface preparation and you are going to be satisfied and feel accomplished. I used a flap disc on rusted areas and did a couple coats of this stuff with a brush, followed by paint. This product levels well with brush application.

Eastwood for the win!Eastwood has it covered! I’m refurbishing an old 1959 travel trailer and the axle is no longer made. No matches. I decided to clean it up and reuse it. After scraping and sand and scraping some more, I decided to look to Eastwood. Their products made my life far easier. The axle looks amazing.

Looks great, goes on easily.Put it on a new frame - no rust. Brushed it on and it leveled nicely. Matte finish looks great. It will run if put on too heavy. I topped it with a rattle can from the hardware store. Won't know how it holds up for a while. Needed a second coat of something as there were some spots that were showing through a bit unevenly.

Great ProductI bought Internal Frame Coating Plus with nozzle and did my internal frame on my 2001 Jeep Wrangler TJ. What a great product and easy to use with no problems and the frame inside turned out nice. I would highly recommend this product for doing internal frames. Also tape up all holes that is not used for access for spraying in which I forgot one on the bottom of the frame and coating ran out

Good and stinkyWow, this stuff I’ll kill you if you’re painting it in and close the area you really need ventilation that’s number one, number two preparation is key the better the prep, the better, the final outcome the finishes and super smooth and the paint is super thick, and the small container really stretched for me. I prepped the services by scraping light sanding, and then I use the vinegar solution as a final effort to clean the rust and wipe off any of the loose paint look at before and after pictures I have no idea how long this will last, but hopefully it lasts better than the rust oleum which stinks.

Dangerous! As much as 35% of the can consists of isocyanates. Because it's a 1-part product I assumed this wasn't even possible. If you want to spray this, more power to you, but be aware that the regular Rust Encapsulator doesn't contain isocyanates (at least when I checked the SDS). After spraying 3 cans, I've had severe allergy symptoms and a cough that won't go away for several days now, and I wore a fresh respirator (3m 6800 full face with an OV paint respirator) the entire time. I wish I would have been more careful and just ordered the regular Rust Encapsulator. I'm sure this product is great, but it should really only be used by professionals or extremely knowledgeable/prepared hobbyists in an outdoor setting. This stuff will make you sick if you don't know what you're doing.

Can these products be used indoors? Does these products contain petroleum products?

As with any automotive paints, good ventilation and even a respirator are recommended. The sds references Petroleum Naphtha.

Would this bond to bare metal better than self etching primer?
Asked by: Mike
Really not comparable products. Yes, Rust Encapsulator Plus can be applied directly to bare metal. It is designed to be versatile and can be used on both bare metal and surface-rusted areas. Your BEST course of action for good bare metal is to use an Epoxy Primer.

what is the difference between plain and plus
Asked by: dave
The Plus version offers stronger rust conversion and better long-term protection compared to the standard version. It is designed for harsher conditions, such as exposure to moisture or road salt. The Plus version can withstand higher temperatures, up to 350°F. The Plus version does not require a top coat unless exposed to direct sunlight, while the regular version may need additional protection depending on the application.

Steel fire door is rusted. Would this be a good product after wire brushing off the flaking paint and rust build up ?
Asked by: Hammerhead
Yes. For all Encapsulator application, there can be nothing that is loose. A good wiring brushing/wheeling and wipe down with a PRE cleaner. Encapsulator and Encapsulator Plus should be top coated if in a lot of sunlight. Encapsulator Platinum which is Silver has most UV protection.

Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Plus is not recommended for direct application over chrome surfaces without proper surface preparation. Chrome is a very smooth, non-porous surface, which makes it difficult for coatings like Rust Encapsulator to adhere properly without mechanical or chemical prep.

Asked by: _Jon
You would want to neutralize any acid product first with Eastwood Pre Paint Prep or Acetone. Then I would apply a small test area to make sure no reaction starts. If fully cures (24-48hrs) and it is not tacky, then I would assume you can proceed to coat the vehicle floor boards.
