Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work table I’ve bought 3-4 of the and while the finished table is not cheap and it takes some effort to assemble it is still the best value for the money. With a little work it will make and outstanding work bench

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saw table These brackets were exactly what was needed for my saw table. The instructions say to use a 4.5" bolt and a 2.5" bolt but with the cost of material and every friggin thing else going through the roof you can use 4" & 2" bolts and cut your cost a little.

Questions & Answers

How do suggest attaching a butcher block top to the legs, L brackets? Thanks

Asked by: kurtav8tor
I successfully attached an 8 foot x 2 foot x 1 1/2” thick maple butcher block to this table setup.  I used three 2x4 cross section pieces on the top section of the table.  I attached a small 5 inch piece of 2x4 to the bottom of the maple table top to each of the opposite corners (diagonally) with two # 10 - 2 1/4” length wood screws.  Be sure to pre (pilot hole) drill the hard wood maple top before attempting to sink that screw in.  My hardwood table top is removable, yet very snug, and it does not shift or slide at all when moving the entire table.

I just ordered a set. Are the carriage bolts included? If not, any suggestions were to get them online? I was was at Home Depot, and the 5in carriage bolts were $5 a piece. And it needs 64 of them? What is the least expensive solution for this?

Asked by: Mfudge007
I ran into the same price dilemma at Home Depot and Lowe’s, somewhere between $4. and $3. each.  Jacob Schmidt & Sons in Harleysville PA stainlessdepot.com has stainless carriage bolts for $.90 and $.60 cents each.  Even with the modest shipping cost, when you do the math, it makes sense to avoid the big box retailer.

Have they fixed this problem ?Designed to use carriage bolts, but square holes are too large for a 3/8 bolt and too small for a 1/2 bolt. If you drill them to allow the threads of the 1/2 carriage bolt to fit, you lose the square shape.

Asked by: Aaron
The square hole dimensions are .380 x .380” or roughly 3/8” (9.7mm x 9.7mm).  The 3/8” carriage bolt square section is .4375 x .4375, 7/16” (11.3mm x 11.3mm). The amount of play / twist in the 3/8” carriage bolt when tightening the nut does allow the bolt to turn more than 90 degrees.  The square hole dimension should be reduced/modified by the manufacturer to provide a more secure mounting position.  I twisted one carriage bolt during installation and feel that production of these should be halted until new, tighter dimensions are created for future brackets.

Is it possible to use lag screws as opposed to carriage bolts? I have a ton of lag screws of the same size so it would be a huge cost saver.

Asked by: Ryker
The instructions for the Eastwood Work Bench Bracket System (20195) call for the use of 4.5 " X 3/8 Carriage bolts to insure a structurally sound assembly. It is possible to use Lag bolts, but the structural integrity of the assembly would be compromised as the Lag bolts can pull out under extreme loads or impact pressures.

We have numerous Canadian distributors which can be found here https://www.eastwood.com/international-distributors/ We do not have a list of what particular items each carries; you will need to check with them directly.
