Duty Cycle

The Rated Duty Cycle refers to the amount of welding that can be done within an amount of time. The Eastwood TIG 200 has a duty cycle of 60% at 190 Amps. It is easiest to look at your welding time in blocks of 10 Minutes and the Duty Cycle being a percentage of that 10 Minutes. If welding at 190 Amps with a 60% Duty Cycle, within a 10 Minute block of time you can weld for 6 Minutes with 4 Minutes of cooling for the welder. To increase the Duty Cycle you can turn down the Amperage Output control. Going above 190 Amps will yield a lower duty cycle.

Application Tips

Best AC/DC TIG Welder

A 200-amp Eastwood TIG welder is the most affordable way for mechanics and other metal workers to get excellent welds on all of their projects. This AC/DC TIG welder uses a tungsten electrode to heat metals and joins them together without becoming part of the finished weld, reducing splatter and mess. The AC mode is used for aluminum, while the DC mode can be used to weld steel and stainless steel in tube, sheet or bar stock form, offering incredible versatility in a skilled set of hands. A stick-weld feature is available as well for use in outdoor conditions or on dirty metals.

Our team has designed this machine to be easy for beginners to use while still offering the capabilities that advanced welders need. It has a straightforward control panel for setting your arc, amperage and mode. The AC/DC adapter cord makes it a cinch to switch between modes. Our portable TIG welders weigh just 45 pounds so you can load them into a car, truck or trailer and bring them wherever you're needed.

Eastwood Tig 200 ACDC Welder

A Complete TIG Welding Package

Anyone with a power source of 110 to 240 volts can power the Eastwood TIG200 Welder for spot welding or fabrication on metals thick and thin. You'll get precise welds thanks to the high-frequency instant start and square-wave AC inverter that assist with control and accuracy. It is rated for a duty cycle of 60 percent at normal amperage, meaning you can weld until the job is finished.

Everything is included with this welder for doing excellent welding straight out of the box. In addition to the AC/DC TIG welder, you'll receive a shielding gas regulator and hose (gas tanks sold separately), a Flex Head WP-17 Series TIG torch that uses industry-standard consumables, several sizes of gas nozzles and collets, two tungsten rods, a gas flow meter, rocker style foot pedal for improved precision and much more. Eastwood backs each welder with a 3-year warranty and our 100 percent customer satisfaction guarantee.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very quiet running machine Bought this in December to get the 6 year warranty, then read the fine print about having to pay shipping there and back. Eastwood is always great during the initial 90 day warranty, going to weld the snot out of this during that time. The flow meter gauge would not drop below 200 psi when drained. Couldn't tap the needle down, one call and they are sending out a replacement. Always call tech support first, they answer quickly. I'm a retired tig certified aircraft welder, I'm sure I could certify with this machine. Just sold my miller syncrowave 180, didn't have the pre/post flow or high frequency ballance. I really didn't need pulse at home, and wanted to keep the price low. Welded side by side with both, S/S, structural steel, 6061 aluminum. The syncrowave offers smoother and more consistent arc starting, and a 5 amp start. The 200 TIG kind of jumps right out at you a bit with the 10 amp start. Wants I got used to it, didn't bother me. Most inverters have this. With the ac ballance you'll have all the cleaning action, or as little as you need. I recommend welding and adjusting the nob at the same time if you've never used this feature. Almost bought the primeweld, but I already new Eastwood has treated me right in the past. The weld quality even on 120 volts is amazing. No one else includes the gas lense collet bodies, very cool. The foot pedal is fine, has rubber feet, doesn't slide around, does require a bit more travel to start the arc than a miller. The fans run continuously, stays on for about 5 seconds after shut down. These are very quiet for fans. I like this better than fan on demand for my own welder, always cooling. The 2 fan feature is one reason I bought this, the smaller inverters have one fan.The TIG 200 mosfet inverter is practically silent, I've welded with some very noisy inverters. Now the few bad things: the tiny 10/25 dinse connectors instead of industry standard 35/50. I would have gladly paid Eastwood the extra $ for an upgrade. Will be buying dinse adapter s, Eastwood should sell or even include these, they don't. The chrome plated brass flow meter is flaking off the threads, internal and external. Why the proprietary torch connection? This was a bad idea, though with some ingenuity a person could fabricate an adapter to use a standard air cooled torch, I have spares now that are unusable. Would like to use a 24 ft torch when needed. When I make an adaptor, I will post it. The dinse style torch connectors are very easy to adapt. Overall, a good machine with probably the lowest input amperage for 200 amp output available.
