Description

The Eastwood TIG 220 AC/DC Welder delivers professional TIG welding performance for steel, stainless, and aluminum in a compact, inverter-driven machine. Designed as the next evolution of the proven TIG 200, the TIG 220 adds more output power, expanded adjustability, and refined arc control for serious fabrication work.

With AC and DC TIG capability, this welder handles everything from thin sheet metal to aluminum fabrication. DC TIG mode provides smooth, low-amperage control for steel and stainless, while AC TIG mode gives you the ability to fine-tune aluminum welds with adjustable balance and frequency. High-frequency arc starting ensures clean ignition without tungsten contact.

The TIG 220 features adjustable pulse TIG welding, allowing better heat control, improved bead appearance, and reduced distortion on thin materials. Pulse TIG is especially useful for automotive restoration, exhaust fabrication, and precision components where heat management is critical.

Dual voltage capability lets you run the TIG 220 on 120V or 240V input power, making it easy to weld in a home garage or a fully equipped shop. Plug into standard household power for lighter work or step up to 240V for maximum output and performance.

In addition to TIG welding, the TIG 220 also includes stick welding capability, giving you added flexibility for thicker materials or outdoor repairs. Digital controls and a clear display make setup fast and repeatable, while foot pedal compatibility provides precise amperage control during welding.

Built with efficient inverter technology and a durable metal case, the TIG 220 is engineered for consistent performance and long service life. It’s an ideal solution for restorers, fabricators, and advanced DIY welders who want professional results without professional-shop cost.

What frequency in hz. Is it welding aluminum on AC? I see people talking about setting hz. In aluminum welding.

Asked by: Scott
AC frequency is measured in HZ/Hertz. In aluminum welding, especially with TIG welding. It plays a critical role in controlling arc and heat.

How does clearance effect relate to balance % ? I only find information on balance percentage nothing on clearance effect. I know they are the same but i have no clue what -3 is in percentage balance

Asked by: Scott
A setting of "-3" would typically indicate a balance skewed towards electrode negative, which increases penetration and reduces the cleaning effect. This is often used for materials like aluminum to achieve deeper weld penetration while minimizing the cleaning zone. These explanations can be viewed in the manual link on the product web page.
