How much of the plasma cutting fluid is recommended for the table ? Dose it take the full 5gal or 1gal to fill the table ?

Asked by: Midwester1
One 5 gal of our plasma table fluid will get you right, fill the rest with water.

Does this have collision detection

Asked by: Jared
This machine has limit switches on all the axes and a collision switch for setting the torch height that can be set to trigger the torch off if is depresses too far during cutting for some reason. If asking whether the machine knows its dragging the plate around, it does not.

can you use bend-tech soft ware on here for cut files

We have not tested that software and do not have a post processor for it.

Hi there, I have tried downloading the free post processor software to install on Fusion 360 and it keeps coming up 404 not found. Do you know why this would happen or is there any other way to download this?

Does this unit have the capabilities of tracing and drawing on the controller like the Arcdroid units available?

Asked by: KC4280
This unit does not have that kind of technology. The best way to approximate that would be taking a picture of a template and importing it to Fusion 360 to trace.

Am I able to put a plate thicker than 1/4" on the table if I have a higher amperage plasma cutter? Curious as to what the weight capacity is

Asked by: Hudson
Yes, to answer both your questions - if you run without the casters we have zero problem with you running up to a 1/2" thick 4' x '4 plate. The casters themselves are rated for 396 lb each - but I would be cautious rolling it around that weight on it if your floor isn't perfectly flat. Please do not exceed 325 lb. of total plate weight on the table.

I have a hpyertherm 45 xp will it work with this table and if so will I have to change the torch to a vertical end

Asked by: Oldtime
A vertical machine style torch is optimal, but you can mount hand torches and they will work. Only downside is you may lose some travel distance depending on how the hand torch has to be oriented. Can a Miller 375 be used with this table

Asked by: Bretta
It appears that Miller is not HF start, which is good, but I think your biggest problem will be connecting the leads to trigger the torch and the leads for torch height control. You may want to reach out to Miller directly and ask them about connecting that. Our manual has guidance on the pin outs and what is required, but ultimately the leads must be connected to your plasma in a safe, reliable fashion. If you want to reference our manual please reach out to help@eastwood.com and ask for Item no. 66726's manual. We are currently having trouble uploading files to our web pages.

What CAM software does the plasma computer run? What file types will it except?

Asked by: StephanieB
For the CAD/CAM we highly recommend Autodesk Fusion 360. It has design, and machine pathing all-in-one. You may also import and existing DXF/DWG/Solidworks or other common CAD files types if you just want to use it for the CAM (the table's computer itself only accepts post processed Gcode .cnc files). They have a free trial period and offer a free subscription for small businesses/start ups. The post processor for Fusion 360 is the same one as our 55132 Elite table, download it here: https://www.eastwood.com/images/library/55132_Eastwood_Elite_CNC_Plasma_Table_Post_%20Processor_File_Download.cps The only alternative I have tinkered with is SheetCAM. If you want to use that I can supply you a post processor for it. Just reach out to our technical support team and I can have them forward it to you. help@eastwood.com

Hello, I currently have crossfire cnc plasma table with a Jasic razorcut 45. I just ordered the versa cut 4x4 cnc table. Will it be safe to use my current plasma cutter?

Asked by: Lowkeydt3789
Only plasma cutters with blowback (low frequency) start are permitted. High frequency start machines may damage the table electronics. CNC cutting will subject your plasma cutter to extended periods of run time and may reduce its lifespan if not intended for this. Furthermore this use could invalidate your plasma cutter’s warranty. Reach out to your plasma cutter’s manufacturer for guidance. Eastwood is not responsible for warranty revocation or damage incurred to your non-Eastwood plasma cutter. Can the torch be upgraded for thicker material?

Asked by: Coop
We do not currently have a more capable CNC plasma cutter/machine torch combination for this unit, sorry. If you need more capacity take a look our 55132 Eastwood Elite 4x4 table, or you could buy this table on its own (66726) and utilize it with a Hypertherm setup for some more power.

Can you upgrade the Cut 40 to the Cut 60 on the Versa CNC machine? If so, how much would that upgrade be? Thanks.

Asked by: Matt
No - and to be clear the included plasma cutter is NOT a standard Cut 40. It is a similar but different machine we are calling the CNC Cut 40 because it features a CNC controls plug and blowback start (instead of high frequency on the standard unit). These features allow reliable and seamless function with the table. Our Cut 60 WILL NOT WORK. In the future we may consider a CNC Cut 60 model for this table, but for now if you need heavy duty CNC plasma cutting check out our 55132 Eastwood Elite table.

Can the machine accommodate geometry from other CAD systems, particularly Solidworks?

Asked by: Doug
Unfortunately we currently do not have a post processor for Solidworks CAM, so what you will need to do is import the design from Solidworks to Fusion 360 and post process there. This video covers importing a .DXF, but since your design is already from another CAD program you won't need to worry about converting or cleaning edges up: https://youtu.be/2_yL3rmU7iE

How easy is it to use or attach a laptop to this machine? What software is needed for this machine?

Asked by: Steve
You do not need to attach a laptop directly to the machine. It is configured for standalone use and has a library of 49 adjustable simple shapes. Where you need a computer is when you want to get into making custom part files outside of the included shapes. We recommend using Fusion Autodesk 360 to generate the require machine code for your custom parts, it has a free trial period and is free for students & small businesses. Use a USB drive to transfer the file over from your PC to the machine. To get a gauge on what you're getting yourself into check out our YouTube playlist for this table, it contains instructional videos on the table and an intro to using Fusion 360 for the table: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8UO6Tbfghxi7EizoYQ_oYi2SuWb9MaUN

What is the max aluminum thickness that this CNC can cut. Thank you

Asked by: Paiman
The max clean cut thickness for the metals we've encountered (steel, alum, stainless) is 3/8" because as you go thicker than that we found that the cut speeds dropped and residual dross increased, significantly.

Max thickness steel it can cut

Asked by: Bill1971
The max we recommend with a clean cut is 3/8". I have done up to 1/2" however you have to run rather slow and end up with a large slag bead to knock of so we don't promote cutting that thickness for optimal results.

Do you plan on building a 4x8 and 5x10 table? No much use for a 4x4.

Asked by: LVLuke
We do not currently have plans for larger tables, but it is something we have talked about and perhaps in the distant future we might offer something larger. That would be a couple years down the road at best though. It is worth noting that you can feed a 4' x 8' or 10' sheet through and support the hanging end to operate on large sheets.

does this table's torch use the original plasma cutters consumables?

The included machine torch has consumables that are somewhat unique - you won't find them in a local weld supply store. We have them in stock, but have had some trouble getting them listed on the website. You’re other plasma cutters give a disclaimer that says “Due to the High Frequency start feature, we do not recommend using this machine on a CNC plasma table.” The plasma cutter that you give specs for say that it’s a “High Freguency Start”.

Asked by: Mike H
Correct - this plasma table was specifically designed to be compatible with high frequency start plasma cutters. We put that disclaimer on the high frequency plasma units because we cannot guarantee other manufacturers' plasma tables tolerate the high frequency interference, and we would not want to cause issue with someone's plasma table.

What size supply wire is needed and what amp breaker does the plasma cutter need ?

Asked by: Russ
For the plasma you need a 50A breaker, 208-240VAC supply. Wire size depends on how far you are running from your electrical panel, please consult a licensed electrician for wire size recommendations. The table just needs a standard grounded 120VAC outlet.

Does software come with this package

Asked by: Pat l
No PC software included. The machine's computer has 50 preloaded shapes, brackets, spacers and such that can be tweaked in size right in the machine. For custom shapes the software we highly recommend is Autodesk Fusion 360. It is free for the trial period, for students and educators, and for small businesses/start-ups.
