Description

Eastwood Wimbleton White Basecoat Paint adds the superior durability of urethane to the ease of conventional basecoats.

  • Apply a durable urethane finish wherever you live in the continental US, even CA
  • Choose a fast, medium or slow Low-VOC Activator
  • Makes 5 sprayable quarts
  • Clearcoat is required on basecoat paints
  • Mixes 4:1 with your activator choice
  • Approximate coverage: 160 SQ FT
  • Max Temperature: Paint will handle up to 300 degrees without delamination, but color shift may occur, so it should not be used in a high heat setting
  • Made in the USA
  • This classic off white Ford color is part of Eastwood’s Muscle Car Color Series

Basecoat Paint Kit is a low-VOC system, so it meets regulatory limits in highly-regulated areas, eliminating the need to switch to a waterborne system.

BASECOAT PAINT MIXING RATIOS
Thoroughly mix four parts Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat with one part Low-VOC Urethane Activator. Use Fast (50308ZP) for small jobs, or temps below 75°F; Medium (50309ZP) for small jobs, or temps between 70-85°F; or Slow (50310ZP) for large jobs, or temps above 80°F. Keep in mind, other factors, such as humidity, air flow and total film thickness should also be considered. In many situations, it will be useful to add 10%-20% 50104ZP Zero-VOC Reducer to aid sprayabliity, flow and leveling. Remember, this is an activated basecoat system; only mix as much as is needed. Pot life is about 2 hours at 70°F.

PAINT GUN SET-UP
HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.4 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 8-10 psi
Conventional Gravity: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.5 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Apply Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat color in two full medium wet coats with a consistent 50% overlap pattern. Allow five to ten minutes flash time between coats. Flash time should increase if additional coats are applied. Most colors will cover in two coats.

Basecoat should dry dust-free within 10-20 minutes. May be lightly sanded in as few as 20 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before wet sanding. Wait 45-90 minutes before taping on the fresh film. All dry times are approximate, at 70°. Temperature, air flow, total film thickness and other variable may extend these times.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Paint I purchased the paint about six months ago. I just got around to painting the car. I was sent the wrong shade of white, not Wimbledon white. The batch # 22804. I will have to strip the car paint, and repaint with the correct color. Not happy. I purchased this paint before from your company. Definitely not the right shade.

Could I use Pearl necklace over this color or does the base have to be bright white?

We would recommend applying this over pure white for the best result.

I'm painting the inside and outside of a 78 Chevy C/10 stepside and will need two gallons of paint. I will be painting in sections, as time allows, the cab/doors then fenders/hood then bed. Do I need to mix both gallons or can I use them one at a time.

Asked by: Roger
We recommend mixing both gallons initially to make sure there are no batch tint differences.

Do you offer a color chip of your actual paint in Wimbledon white? I want to be sure it's a good color match for my '66 Ford F100. I've tried using the Duplicolor version in a spray can for painting a few accessories and it's not even close to matching.

Asked by: Randy
We do have a chip chart with that color. Check out this link for a free chip chart. https://www.eastwood.com/how-to-paint-a-car

I have a 1965 ford mustang coupe. The factory color is whimbeldon white. Base coat Approximately how much paint will I need? Also my interior is bright red in a satin finish Do you carry this paint for the interior in a spray can or quart can?

Asked by: Bill
Generally speaking if you are only painting the outside of an average car on gallon will do. If you plan to paint underhood, jambs, etc then we recommend two gallons.
