Eastwood 2K AeroSpray Aerosol Epoxy Primer Gray is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 75.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Well I really put this stuff to the test. Sprayed my entire engine bay and it worked great. It has a nice build as well so I I was able to cover small imperfections in the filler. It wet sands nicely (400 wet) and the 2K is no joke. I was Skeptical so I tried to wipe it off with Lacquer thinner and it dosen't wipe off. If you are getting large droplets and bad texture then you are too far back. Nozzle sprays like a paint gun so You need to spray it like a paint gun. Uuniform strokes, overlapping, stop spraying at the end of the panel start spraying on your way back, etc... When you get to last 1/4 of can becareful because it will start to sputter then. This wont be a concern if you are sanding it before paint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for some things, and not others This paint does spray out well and has a great vertical spread nozzle. It's really only good for parts, I think, because you can really only use it with the can held straight up and down. You can't paint a hood, for example. I used the epoxy primer and even on vertical surfaces, it left a line pattern unless a lot of paint was put down. A can doesn't cover much area and if you want to avoid a line pattern you need to put a lot down. By my calculation, if you wanted to prime a mid-size car, it would take about 25 cans to get sufficient coverage. You really can't go by the square footage that the can says it can cover.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works OK Happy that an epoxy primer is available in a can. The reviews I have read before purchasing are more obvious after actually using the product. I used it on the trunk of my car and glad to have it done with epoxy primer. But... because having to hold the can horizontal I only got good spray for about half of the can. So I had two cans thinking that was more than I needed but turns out that I could use at least one more can. I'm debating on what to do now by either leave it as it is or scuff it and add another coat. I also agree with others that the price is very high for the quantity.

Can you apply bondo over the primer rather putting the bondo straight onto the metal?

Asked by: Louis
You can certainly apply body filler right over this epoxy primer.

This epoxy product is called a "primer". Does it then follow that I need to paint over it with a second coat of a different product? I am wanting to spray my lower control arms and struts to mimic / create a "cast iron" look. Please advise.

This is an Epoxy primer. It is designed to be a DTM (direct to metal) primer. Your paint can be applied directly over. If you need more fill or want the ability to sand- you would need to top coat with a High Build Primer such as our Urethane Primer Surfacer.

Is your Eastwood Gray Epoxy Primer and Catalyst and 2K gray primer in a can the same color gray?

Asked by: Mikes 65
These products are the same product and should have the same color. With that said though if they come from different batches it may vary ever so slightly.

Am I spraying it incorrectly ? It had a rough sand paper finish and no sheen like I’ve seen some 2k primers on YouTube... also it leaves a lot of powder-like solids on the floor.... thanks!

Asked by: RM1971
When applying this product you need to make sure you are holding the can about 6 inches from the panel and not the typical 12 inches. Holding the can too far away will cause a rough finish.

Can I use this on calipers?

Asked by: Dragonwolf911
Since this is a standard primer it is not designed to handle the temperatures seen on braking systems.

After it cures/dries, how long do I need to wait before I spray the under hood product and do I need to scuff the 2K primed surface before spraying the under hood paint?

Asked by: RM1971
After 20-30 minutes of the epoxy drying you can go straight into your underhood black without scuffing.

Hi, I'm using this as a primer for rocker panel replacement skins. What type of paint can I use to cover this. My truck is white. I just need a top coat. Can I use enamel auto paint over the epoxy primer. Someone said I shouldn't use acrylic lacquer.

Asked by: den51
this is not an answer, but does your answer mean that I can acrylic lacquer over the epoxy filler? Thanks
