Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epoxy Paint Needed to paint a small area and this can fit the needs perfectly, the paint cured quickly, sprayed a test piece first and tried to scrape it off, stuff is tuff so far very pleased with this product, it’s pricy for large areas. But works very well.

I'm repairing an area with small (less than 1/8") rust spots. I will sand to mostly bare metal to remove the rust, but some may still be present. Will this product sufficiently stop further rust, or is it necessary to first use rust encapsulater?

Asked by: ritchie
For very small rust spots we recommend applying a layer of Encapsulator and letting it fully dry. From here you come back and sand to bare metal leaving the Encapsulator in the pitting to stop the rust. Now you are ready for our Primer.

Is this stuff waterproof on it's own? I'd like to do some temporary patch work.

Asked by: Bill
The primer is meant to be top coated, I would not recommend any moisture getting on the product.

I have instructions on magnesium wheels to apply a self etching primer then a 2k Epoxy Primer. Your primer says not to apply over self etch primer. Is this the case or will I be okay with the above instruction?

Asked by: Brad
We do not recommend our Epoxy over self etching primer. It would have to be one or the other with our paints. Our Epoxy is a great base over bare metals to build your paint job off of.

I used Contour Polyester primer on my '70 Chevy C10. I sanded a few spots down to metal and also created a few low spots. I have some 2k epoxy primer aerosol cans left. Can I use them on the remaining spots or should I continue using the Contour?

Asked by: moselman
If you are purely looking to seal up the bare metal spots the Epoxy would be perfect, but if you're looking to add a little more film to sand the Contour poly is best.

How many cans would i need to do a 1973 camaro?

Asked by: camaro73z28
Each can will cover about 10 SQ FT. This should help you figure out how many you would need for a vehicle. It may be more economical to purchase the primer in bulk and spray with a paint gun.

I already scuff all my headlights and other chrome parts in my Harley, have a brushed satin finish now, which one is the best I can use for best adhesion, and after painting them with the black hot rod paint, do I have to clear coat? thank you

Asked by: charlie
This Epoxy primer will be perfect to create a base for the rest of your paint. The necessity to clear coat will depend on the paint you choice. The "hot rod" paint you refer to we do not sell so I cannot say. Our Rat Rod satin paint does not require any clear.
