I shouldn’t love this but I do.Yes, it’s expensive for a rattle can and Yes, it’s worth it. Coverage is always less then I thought it would be. It dries like iron. Paint sticks to it like glue. It took 9 cans to coat a freshly sandblasted 65 ford cab inside and out overlapping like 25%. If you don’t have a compressor and gun or you want to skip clean up it’s a great option.

Black primer and paint reviewThis primer worked great. Good spray pattern and coverage. The spray is a lot better than the “low gloss black” for the final color. The “low gloss black” spray head needs lots of work. It does not spray like a spray gun as Eastwood says.

Eastwood 2K Spray Epoxy PrimerI’ve been quite pleased with this epoxy spray. It goes on evenly and covers well with no splatters as some other rattle can paints will often do. Finally, you get quite a bit of paint out of each can, so you definitely get your money’s worth!

ReviewI’m still waiting to use it but I’m excited to use it. Comes in a good size can. I read that once you activate it, you’ll only have a limited amount of time to use it so I’m really just waiting until I get my car prepped up and spray in areas that metals are exposed and still deciding if I should spray this over body filler. I’m incline to spraying over body filler and sanding it off according to the video provided by Eastwood for beginners. But my thought was that because they sprayed epoxy in the video was because they’re working with bare metal and I’m not. I’m just sanding car down to oem paint, finish any body work, then paint. I’m using this epoxy over bare metal to prevent corrosion according to my research. I’ve sanded all my edges and corner to metal, feathered in towards inner panel and will spray this on after works and then sand to even surface. The reason I’m doing that is because at corners and edges I noticed paint peeling on the car and will spray it after epoxy and wrap paint around edges and corners to other side of panels when spraying to hold them down for long term.

Is this product suitable to prime copper for the exterior of a house
Asked by: Jack
Yes, Eastwood Epoxy Primer can be applied over copper. Lightly abrade the copper surface to create a texture that promotes adhesion for the epoxy primer. The copper surface must be completely clean and free of any oxidation, grease, or film.

Ok to use under a vinyl top without a top coat?
Asked by: Durtclod
Yes, epoxy primer is an excellent choice for use under a vinyl top. It provides strong adhesion and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for protecting the metal surface beneath the vinyl. Just be sure to abrade/scuff the surface before applying your glue and top.

Can you use this 2k Spray Paint Epoxy Primer on sanded unfinished wood
Asked by: PTSDVet
No, the 2K Spray Paint Epoxy Primer is not suitable for use on unfinished wood. It is designed for substrates such as bare aluminum, bare and galvanized steel, OEM finishes, old paint, and most plastics. However, it is explicitly mentioned that it is unsuitable for certain materials like Styrofoam, and there is no indication that it is appropriate for wood surfaces

What is a good sealer to top coat over 2K Aero-Spray epoxy primer? Can I use a reinforced filler over this primer? Should it be applied over this primer directly or after the application of a sealer first?
Asked by: Greg
You can use a sealer or filler
While this primer is super easy to sand smooth, you may shoot the Single-Stage Urethane Paint over it in a "wet on wet" application. That means the paint may be applied over fresh primer that has still not cured.

If I used this primer, could I use duraspray for top coat then aerospray for the clear coat? Also how long do I have to wait in between each coat (primer, top, clear) and do I have to sand after this primer is used.
Asked by: Jordan923
2-5 minutes flash between coats, depending on temperature. Drying Full cure in 12 hours at 68°F. IR Drying: 35-40 minutes at 140°F After 20-30 minutes / 68°F
you may scuff lightly...depending on your application

Is a second coat needed/recommended? If so, when should it be applied. Also, I'll be top coating with Raptor liner. How long should I wait to apply?
Thanks!
Asked by: LBC restorer
Ideally we do recommend at least 2 coats. You can apply a second coat as soon as 5-7 minutes after applying the first up until about 12 hours. After 12 hours it will have fully cured and will need to be sanded first. We do not sell Raptor liner so we can not guarantee compatibility with it. We would have to recommend you test a scrap piece of metal first but you should be able to top coat as soon as 20-25 minutes after applying up until the 12 hours. After 12 hours- it must be sanded first.
Answered by: Kelly H
Date published: 2022-07-21
Raptor Liner recommends a primer be used on bare metal. If epoxy primer is used, they recommend one with a hardener. Does Eastwood 2K AeroSpray Epoxy Primer contain a hardener? Thanks!
Asked by: LBC restorer
Yes- this 2k can has hardener. The red button on the bottom of the can that you push up releases the hardener. Then you shake and apply like a normal aerosol; but this will have a 48 hour pot life once activated.
Answered by: Kelly H
Date published: 2023-12-31
Does this have to be applied to bare metal or can I scuff old paint, new bond and apply over that like normal automotive primer? Also what about applying over self etching primer? Thanks
Asked by: Alex
As long as the surface is scuffed and cleaned there should be no issue with the epoxy adhering to most automotive topcoats. However, it is not able to be used with self-etching primer.
