Questions & Answers

What size tips do you need for each primer, base and clear coat?

Asked by: Mikey55
The .8 tip which is installed will spray base and clear. For the primer you may want the 1.3 tip option.

So I just purchased a 1.3mm needle for doing the clear coat stage and wanted to know what you would suggest for the 1.3mm needle cap size because there is only 2 cap sizes I found. The 1.8mm cap, or the stock 0.5mm cap? My use is for car painting fyi.

Asked by: Drobin
You'll be able to run the same air cap which was included with the unit when using the 1.3 needle/nozzle.
Answered by: Scott C

So is all the needle sizes included? Or do I have to purchase all the sizes separately?

Asked by: Drobin
This paint gun system will come with the 0.8mm tip installed. All the other sizes will be optional and available for purchase separately.

Hello, I understand that the Eastwood 5 stage is the same as the Apollo eco 5 stage but what makes buying the kit from Apollo different than buying your kit from eastwood?

Asked by: Joseph
Buying from Eastwood allows you to also pick up all your painting supplies in one convenient location.

These are made by Apollo yet; they say these are not powerful enough to paint cars. Can you show cars painted with these ?..quote "we don't recommend the ECO systems for spraying cars as they don't have enough power and will definitely produce more peel.

Asked by: RobertA
This small entry level unit is best used for spraying a car in pieces as a home hobbyist.

Hi there considering purchasing Eastwood 5stage turbine can you equip the gun with any other cup set up for example dkup or something similar?

Asked by: Dennis
Due to the design of this gun and cup with the pressure line to the top of the cup we do not have the ability to use other brand or disposable cups.

How long will this machine work for? What is it's life span? I'm a painter and I'm getting ready to paint my hot rod pick up. Will this machine hold up to a full complete paint job such as air Compressor?

Asked by: Redman0506
This is a turbine system. It will certainly last years for you and be able to hold up to paint job after paint job if cared for properly.

This unit has the same specs as the Eco 5.

Can I use this for applying ceramic coatings?

Asked by: Ceramic Bob
If the coating you have is the consistency of a standard paint you certainly could use this. If the recommended sprayer for said paint is a detail gun or air brush this unit would not work for you.

I already have my paint and activator, my activator is medium, If I purchase this will I need to change to slow activator due to this machine heating the paint up?

Asked by: bolo
It would not be necessary. You will want to still base your activator choice off of the ambient temperature you are spraying in.

How does a HVLP spray gun rated at 9.5 psi max spray auto paint rated at 30-40 psi? I know cfm's come into play but how do you know what to dial in for best performance and the recommendations on the paint are for a conventional sprayer?

Asked by: MarkMark
These paint guns are designed to spray at a lower pressure but a higher CFM to properly atomize the paint.

Will I need a different tip size to use this with Automotive paint out of the box?  I see it comes with a .8 tip and normally you are looking at a 1.2 to 1.4 for solvent based base / clear applications.

Asked by: bob7318
Since these guns operate a bit different than a traditional paint gun the .8 would be perfect for base and clear.

How can I adapt a standard HVLP gun to this turbine system? It there a special adapter I need?

Asked by: joel23
Although a standard hvlp gun can't be adapted to work with the turbine Apollo does offer a gun designed to work from either compressed air or turbine air as well.I own the Apollo 5110 and love the versatility of having that option to work without needing a compressor with me

When using this system do you still use the same mixing ratios as if you were spraying with an air compressor also in the video Kevin teatz says the air coming out is cool but on the reviews one of the people say it comes out very hot which is correct

Asked by: Tink
The paints to be sprayed will be mixed the same way. This unit produces the perfect air temp for spraying.

I assume there will be far less fumes and wasted materials floating in the air versus a conventional air compressor and HLVP gun set up. Is that true or false. If true, roughly what % less fumes and materials will be floating around in air?

Asked by: demort71
The over spray will be greatly reduced from a conventional air compressor and HVLP gun set up. The fume percentage has never been tested against a regular spray gun. You will still want to use the correct respirator for the product you are spraying.

Does ambient air temperature effect the air temp that comes out of the system when spraying?

Asked by: TJM01
The air comes out HOT. There is a heating system in line inside  for moisture. I leave my hose off the gun for about 304 min for it to heat up before I start to spray.

You can use this turbine gun to paint objects of any size. The main thing is to make sure the tip size is appropriate for the material you'll be spraying.
