Application Tips

To Clean Aluminum: remove any residual contaminents with a mild solvent Like PRE Painting Prep. Apply Aluminum Prep leberally to surface to be cleaned, let penetrate for 3-5 minutes. Wipe off with a clean cloth. Repeat until desired finish is acheived. To Prep for Welding: Follow same procedure as above and use a stainless steel wire brush to abrade the weld surfaces prior to welding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding cleaner!! Bought this for cleaning an aluminum tri power intake manifold for my 67 Vette big block. The intake had a lot of years of baked on grime. Sprayed this on, and back to bare metal with once application. Amazing stuff, and leaves no residue behind. Do yourself a favor, get this and use the Pre Painting prep cleaner first, and you won't believe the difference. Great stuff hands down.

Attempting to clean my range hood aluminum grease filters I soaked them in a solution of Oxiclean and they turned black. I thought they were ruined and because they are an unusual size were going to be very expensive to replace. I ordered 1 bottle of Eastwood Aluminum Prep as a last resort and the results were AMAZING. I poured the bottle into a small tub and immersed the filters and by just splashing the solution gently over the filters the black is completely gone and the filters are shiny, clean and look like new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As described I am restoring a rare rx50, I needed something to prep the cases for polish, I used paint remover to remove what was left of the protective coating that was on the cases and then applied this product with a brush, I did it like the directions said, had to clean off and reapply about 4 times to get it to a point where I could polish the cases to a millor shine.

Upon using the product on an aluminum crankcase it caused aluminum corrosion and oxidation despite following the manufacturer's instructions. I had to spend hours using a wire brush to get rid of the damage it caused to the surface.

Can i use this to brighten a bare aluminum Harley engine and transmission without harm chrome surfaces or gaskets? Thanks

My concern is that it etches, and I'm not sure if you want that on already finished parts. Usually used prior to final finishing. Eastwood Aluminum Prep cleans and etches aluminum surfaces prior to welding, painting or polishing.

Can I spray this on the outside of a Rochester four barrel carburetor that it’s not shiny and it’s very old looking there’s no grease on this carburetor. It’s in brand new shape, but the aluminum is very dull?

Will whit clean an aluminum diesel fuel tank

Yes, Aluminum Prep Cleaner will clean the tank on your diesel truck. It will return the aluminum to its original/natural like new color. This is not an aluminum polish.

How well will this product work to restore the original finish on an aluminum Chrysler 727 transmission? Should I also use another product? And what should I use to protect the finish when it’s restored?

This product should help you get your transmission to a bare clean state. Once cleaned, I would apply some Diamond Clear Satin to protect the aluminum.
