BASECOAT PAINT MIXING RATIOS
Thoroughly mix four parts Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat with one part Low-VOC Urethane Activator. Use Fast (50308ZP) for small jobs, or temps below 75°F; Medium (50309ZP) for small jobs, or temps between 70-85°F; or Slow (50310ZP) for large jobs, or temps above 80°F. Keep in mind, other factors, such as humidity, air flow and total film thickness should also be considered. In many situations, it will be useful to add 10%-20% 50104ZP Zero-VOC Reducer to aid sprayabliity, flow and leveling. Remember, this is an activated basecoat system; only mix as much as is needed. Pot life is about 2 hours at 70°F.
PAINT GUN SET-UP
HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.4 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 8-10 psi
Conventional Gravity: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.5 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi
Conventional Siphon: Fluid Tip: 1.3-1.6 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Apply Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat color in two full medium wet coats with a consistent 50% overlap pattern. Allow five to ten minutes flash time between coats. Flash time should increase if additional coats are applied. Most colors will cover in two coats. A third and final coat may be applied to set even metallic pattern. If required, apply this light coat immediately after the previous full wet coat, moving the gun with faster passes, from further away. Mist basecoat onto the wet film until the metallic pattern is uniform.
Basecoat should dry dust-free within 10-20 minutes. May be lightly sanded in as few as 20 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before wet sanding. Wait 45-90 minutes before taping on the fresh film. All dry times are approximate, at 70°. Temperature, air flow, total film thickness and other variable may extend these times.

Deep rich black cherry color that shifts color based on lighting
This is exactly what I was looking for in a metallic basecoat. You get a rich black cherry in direct sunlight, but when in the shade or low light, the color is very dark. At dusk, the car looks black until it's next to a car that actually IS black. The downside of this basecoat is simple. It is very finicky. Gun settings and air quality are always critical for a proper finish, but the slightest change in anything makes a HUGE difference. Take your time and use the slowest possible activator.

Product worked great
Purchased this color as something a little different than standard black. Based on photos I was expecting a little darker overall. I used Eastwood primers and clear and very happy with results. Thanks.

Basecoat Misrepresented
I chose the Bonneville Black Cherry as my basecoat. The photo in your color chart is not what I got.Its much darker and I shot it thinking that maybe it would cure lighter after I applied the clearcoat. It didn't.Your system worked very well and the metallic in the basecoat is great. I'm just disappointed in the dark shade.(very dark burgundy)

Questions & Answers
I am looking at doing this color on my 84 square body single cab long bed and would like to know how many quarts I would need and also what is the recommended primer and clear for this color for best results
This product is only available in quarts and each gallon covers 160 square ft. As far as clears and primers that will depend on the specific application.

i have a 1959 Hillman Minx 4 door sedan, and was wondering how much 2k primer i would need to spray inside and out of this car, plus how much with base and clear i would need. and after i spray the 2k primer and do my block sanding do i spray sealer?
The Eastwood 2K primer Grey covers approximately 140 square feet per gallon with activator. The Eastwood Base coat paints cover approximately 160 square feet per gallon with activator. The Eastwood European Clear coat covers approximately 150 square feet per gallon with activator. you will need to measure and determine how many square feet of coverage you will need. Seal coat spray is not necessary but is recommended to seal the primer before applying the top coat for the best possible finish.

Will mettalic black darker this up without washing the red out of it?
It's possible to slightly darken this paint by adding a black base. With that said though we've never tested this and we would recommend testing on a small batch first. Also a black primer can darken the paint outcome a bit too.

This Black Cherry is a beautiful color and I want a Satin finish. I want to use all Eastwood products so what clear coat do I use? Thanks
The closest thing you will be able to get to a satin finish is applying our matte clear over the paint with more than the typical amount of coats so it gets to a satin sheen.

How many gallons would I need to paint 1964 Buick riviera . This is also color change .how many stage process is this .thank you .
We would advise getting 2 gallons of paint. Mix the paint in the cans and then pour the paint from both gallon cans into a larger plastic bucket. Mix the paint together, then pour back into the can and reseal with the lid. This way the paint will always match. Below is a link to the video we have for our 4 step paint guide.

CLEARCOAT
Wait at least 30 minutes before topcoating with another color or clearcoat (longer depending on conditions). Recoating too soon may cause wrinkling or refloating of metallic/
pearl particles.
Basecoat MUST be recoated within 18 hours. If more than 18 hours has elapsed, surface
must first be abraded with 400-600 grit and another coat of base applied prior to clearing.
Complete instructions can be for on the web under instructions for your color.
