Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great results I am working on a project that required a new front rear suspension, after reviewing the results that others had with this product I decided to use it,I brushed it on the results were great no brush marks and is black,I will need to order more to complete the project.once again great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff looks good... I've only just started this phase of my project, but I'm really happy with this product so far. Goes on velvety smooth on a nicely prepped surface. And is so dark. You'd think, "Black is black," but I'm telling you that this is blacker. Doing the frame on my 63 TR4 and can't wait to get the color done in my engine bay. The deep black against the bright red is going to look really good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought this product to topcoat the rust encapsulated rear suspension of my 76 pickup. It worked great and used two coats as recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value for the money once again another great Eastwood product went on well and covered with one coat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent paint I recently painted the engine bay and under the hood with this paint. I used a spray gun. It went on very smooth and turned out beautiful. I like the satin because it is a soft color that looks good if you paint a wire harness cover. It doesn't look ugly, but looks natural if you know what I mean. It sprays nicely from the gun. It allows me to do a professional looking job as an amateur.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome paint. Either spraying on with the spray can or from a HVLP gun. I have had no issues with this paint at all. You just need to "follow the directions" and you will get a great looking finish. Car is still in progress of getting restored and with every use of a jack, jack stand, or just pushed by hand. The paint has held strong and thew finish still looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product Covers very well and pretty durable for an aerosol product. Doesn't spray out super smooth, so I would only recommend for chassis application.
Date published: 2018-05-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint I've sprayed several cases of this paint. It's my go to paint after blasting parts. It sprays on nicely, with good spray pattern. The paint is durable and covers well. I wish replacement nozzles were available as I've had a few clog after uses.
Date published: 2018-04-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Now I love it! At first I didn't like the way it sprayed. I wasn't used to the wet finish look as it went on but once it dried, I loved the look of it! Now it's my favorite paint and I use it on just about everything, not just the chassis. I have had lots of problems with other over-the-counter spray paints. With the most common brand out there, I can't get seem to finish a can without a terrible clog in the can, not the tip, rendering it useless. With the Eastwood, I was able to run every last drop out of it. And one can seems to go a long way! I used it on just about everything black on my kit car.
Date published: 2018-03-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice finish for my frame. This was pretty easy to spray over the rust encapsulator treated frame and the old finish. Frame really wasn't bad, southern truck. Looks like a nice consistent finish.
Date published: 2017-10-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best paint out there on the market. If EXTREME CHASSIS BLACK paint is strong enough for the chassi of any vehicle it should be strong enough for my wheels. I wanted something strong and durable to paint my wheels and why not the EASTWOOD EXTREME CHASSI BLACK...!!! One can of Extreme Chassis Black did the whole job. Each wheel took 4 coats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Looking Finish I have used Extreme Chassis Black for several years and really like the way it looks. I have used it on my Dodge Dakota which I drive in the winter. We use a lot of salt on the roads here and after four years it has held up beautifully. I go off road frequently on gravel roads and dirt roads and the chip resistance of this paint is very good. Overall a very good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far great product. Restoring 61 willys truck, steamed, sandblasted, wiped down real good with the prep, sprayed 2 coats of encapsulator, and top coated, with extreme chassis black on entire frame and all suspension parts, when on great, and looks great. I was able to empty every spray can. Will be calling in another order soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Finish So far so good. Followed the Eastwood recommendation of 2 coats of chassis black primer followed by two coats of extreme chassis black on the engine bay of a 68 Mustang. Can't speak to the durability yet, but the finish looks outstanding. I though the paint wasn't drying because of the gloss.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff is great to work with! With proper prep adhesion is great. The aerosol cans have a really good pattern, and the cans emptied all the way. This job took 2 1/2 cans of both primer and paint. Its very tough as well. I dropped a skid plate on accident and it didnt scratch or chip. Everything was taken to bare metal, and solvent cleaned alot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme Chassis Black Aerosol I have bought several times and it has been an excellent product every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from professional finish Great product, i used it in the engine accessories such as brackets, pulley and other parts of suspension, leaves a nice glossy deep black .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well. I am restoring a 71 M G B. The finish looks great, sticks very well, and has resisted some abuse, not flaking off. What more could you want.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Durable I have used this on different restoration projects and was happy with the outcome as was the customers. This last time I used it to redo my wrought iron railing and it looks new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product I used por15 rust preventative as base and this as the top coat, coverage is really good and durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff This is the third car I have used this product on, and it's wonderful. Great adhesion, super color and probably the best there is. Delivery was quick and accurate as well. Eastwood rocks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Factory finish in a can (or better)!! During the rebuild of the front end of our '71 Javelin, it became obvious that we would need to repaint all of the "hard" front end pieces after stripping of year of sludge, etc. I reached for the Extreme Chassis Black and sprayed all parts. Gotta say, was the right choice. The front end pops, and the finish is super durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme Chassis Black Can't say enough about this product. The coverage, sheen and durability are all outstanding. Three cars, a couple cabinet bases and untold 'parts' later and never left wanting more. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I bought this paint to do a bunch of small parts that couldn't go to the powder coater for one reason or another. I treated the parts that were bare metal with After Blast for a few minutes then washed with the PRE paint prep, the E-coated parts were just washed with PRE paint prep. After that I warmed up the parts and the paint cans to help thing go a little better. I used the Extreme Chassis Primer first and applied 3-4 coats on all of the parts. In between coats I would run a blow drier over them to keep everything warm, that helped the primer flash to where I could apply a new coat every 20-30 minutes. After all the parts were primed I heated everything back up with a blow drier and started painting with the Extreme Chassis Black Satin. The first coat was a mist, just enough to lightly cover the parts, then blow drier to help flash. Next 2 coats were medium, blow drier between each coat to help flash. After 3 good coats and final blow drying I took the parts inside my house in the spare bedroom to cure. The inside temps are kept about 68-70, garage is anywhere from 40-50 this time of year. I got really good results with the finished product applying the paints this way. I broke up the work into manageable chunks so I didn't feel rushed while applying this product which I think helped a whole lot. Along with all the parts I was painting I did a test piece. After a few days of cure time I ran it through a little destructive test, sanding, beating, lacquer thinner, acetone, gas, brake fluid and brake cleaner. The paint does come off, not that easy though. The paint will handle a fair amount of abuse before it just goes to bare metal again. I will definitely handle the occasional tool drops and gas/chemical spills contrary to other off the shelf rattle can paints. Summary of the actual product: I read a lot of reviews before buying the Eastwood paints. A lot of people said the cans died early, some said the paint spit and sputtered and didn't spray good. I didn't have 1 issue with any paint cans, actually the opposite is true. 1 can of this stuff goes a mile! I was amazed at how much I was able to get done with 1 can. I painted all of my steering components, axle flanges, steering box and some small brackets with 1 can (3 good coats each). I bought 6 thinking I would use 2 or 3 and have leftovers, now I have 5 leftover. The paint sprayed nice and even, nice fan pattern and laid out really good. I am by no means a pro with paint, I would say that anyone that used this stuff and followed the directions would get a nice finished product. I also read a lot that the sheen of the Chassis Black Satin is a little too glossy for OE restorations. Maybe so but I really like the finish of it and it lends itself better to keeping it clean, as opposed to flat or matte. Now I will say this after using this line of products, hind sight I would have gone with the Eastwood 2K line. Not that the Extreme line is not good but to have a true 2 part paint system in my mind would've been a better choice. The price difference is negligible between the Extreme and 2K, and if you are even looking into the Extreme line you must be willing to pony up to invest in a better product than the hardware or auto parts store paints. Either way the Eastwood paints are good stuff, maybe not the best but definitely up there quality wise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff I used this paint on my bare axle housing with no primer and it went on great, looks awesome too, only time will tell on it's durability, but so far I'm satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I was rehabbing a small utility trailer and after spraying with a quart of Chassis Black needed a bit more for touch up so ordered same in this spray. Product worked great and of course matched nicely with the satin from the quart.
Date published: 2015-11-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost like Powdercoat in a can paint adheres to surfaces very well. it is thick enough that it has a powdercoat-like quality. Seems like it grabs on to the surface with good prep of course. Nice quality sheen to the paint. Thank you!
Date published: 2015-10-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Read the instructions! I bought this to do the engine bay and transmission crewmember on my '68 mustang. I haven't sprayed the bay yet but have done several parts such as the crewmember and steering box. It looks very similar to powberciating and is a solid coat. I covered the parts about 4 times with a few minute between coats. Jus enough to prevent runs. Do you metal prep correctly and take your time spraying and this works very well. Even the rough casting on the steering box went on well.
Date published: 2015-10-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This is the best paint I have ever sprayed from a rattle can. The spray nozzle gives a professional spray pattern and leaves the end product with a great finish that is very durable.

I plan to use this paint on the underside of my 375 hp 68 Camaro with stock exhaust & muffler that sits behind rear axle in the "axle tunnel". Will the heat from the muffler be an issue? I understand the paint with stands 300 degrees.

Asked by: Thomas
This would be impossible for us to answer not knowing what temps will be seen by the areas near the exhaust. All we can go off of is the 300 temp heat rating. If you would like to have less fear of temperature we could also recommend using one of our engine paints in the same area which are good too 650F and available in quart or aerosol.

My frame has some small sections of very light surface rust. Which is better for chassis paint durability, mechanically remove the rust and use extreme primer, or spray with rust encapsulator first? Is the aerosol paint less durable?

Asked by: WHMitchell
If you can completely remove the rust mechanically we certainly recommend that method. If you cannot get all the rust our Encapsulator followed by our Extreme chassis paint is a great option. The aerosol is the identical paint in the quarts.

Info on epoxy vs extreme system. Rust encapsulation too

Asked by: Marty
These are very different products. The Epoxy is a super strong two part catalyzed primer perfect to lay down over bare metal, paint, and body filler. The Extreme chassis black is a great middle of the road non-catalyzed paint system for bare metal, paint, and body filler. The Rust Encapsulator is used on areas of light to moderate surface rust.
