Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even Better I've used the anti-rust for maybe 5 years. Great product, but I had to jury-rig the sprayer to get into hidden areas - a chain lube nozzle with the short straw, etc. The extended nozzle makes all the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked fantastic Overall I was very happy with the way the product worked. It gives fantastic 360 degree coverage. I used it to seal inside a box frame horn section, so there was no other way to get the inside coated well. My only complaint was the straw wants to stay permanently bent from being shipped that way, which made it tough to guide it straight back and it popped off once which was messy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goodproduct I am from an automotive background, and one task was to teach people how to rustproof. This is very much like an interior panel material I was familiar with, and it was a very good product. It was self healing (in case a panel got bent), so it would not dry up and crack like many other products did. If you're looking for something that is easy to work with, easy to clean up, and is lasting, this is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent buy, great product Years ago, there was a product called Quaker Coat. It had interior coating and exterior coating also. This has the color and scent of the interior coating and is just as easy to work with and to clean up. The applicator hose was just what I was looking for and it is well designed. It sprays in a conical pattern instead of a straight line slurry. I also taped a straightened out coat hanger to it in order to get a more stable and direct shot into the panels. I am happy to see a product that was thought out by people who know something about panel access, and usable self healing material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent first line of defense against rust I used this stuff to coat newly plated parts and underbody areas. Dries just about clear with a slight yellowish tint. Retains some tack so it will attract dust but very good for keeping water out of fasteners. Will not harm rubber or paint - remove with paint thinner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I just purchased a new can of the anti rust. It appears to be more of a liquid then the one I used in the past. However I believe it is improved. It now gets into the seams and crevices even better. I used it to seal the edges and bottom of a door. It is drawn right into the small spaces and then sets up with a nice smooth sealed surface. I am sure it will help repel water that gets in the door from forming rust blisters. It will also help channel the water to the door drains.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from QUALITY PRODUCT The 24" extension nozzle is small enough and flexible enough to get into small places and sprays in a 360 degree pattern. It sprays out as a thin liquid but sets up within 1-2 hours as a thick tacky substance. I have a 2012 Silverado truck that I used the extension nozzle in the existing inner fender holes to coat the inside fender seams and the bumpers. I used the red spray straw to coat large areas like the inner fender wells. To coat the front and rear inner fenders and both bumpers it took 2 cans. To heavily coat the rear fender wells with the red spray straw it took 1 can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long lasting, easy to apply, easy to clean up. Eastwoods heavy duty anti rust is all I use for inside frames, doors and panels. Have used it for over 10 years and keeps rust away. I always have a can on hand and just ordered 2 more for my latest Jeep TJ X and my Chevy express. I love the undercoating sprayer and fittings also. I bought this system with my first can and is still like brand new over 10 years ov use. Thank you Eastwood .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well! I did drill four 1/2 inch holes in the lower door ends in my 2011 F - 150 crew cab ( one in each door ) to make the application easy. This should eliminate the rust in the lower seams due to the heavy use of salt in the midwest. Two cans was more than enough to treat the rocker panels and lower tailgate seams. May need to tape a length of wire to the tubing to keep it ridged and buy access hole plugs at the local hard wear store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This product is an easy to use, long lasting rust protection and it's easy to clean up. I'm extremely meticulous when it comes to taking care of my pickup truck as I live in the rust belt of NY. Thanks Eastwood, as always I'm extremely satisfied with your products, fast service and fair prices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worked flawlessly the extension nozzle worked great for applying the product inside of doors without drilling any access holes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product An excellent product I used to touch up rustproofing on my truck. It applied easily and turns to an amber waxy coating that replicates the product that was professionaly done. I suggest a couple thin coats as opposed to one thick one. I plan to buy more for a jeep project when time arrives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great item to use on repaired panels! I like the spray feature, it flows into places you cannot see. It dries semi-soft, so if you scratch it, it will heal itself. I use it on new panels, and inside doors. It's also good on inner fender panels. Great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product!! better straw would be nice, kept popping out of the spay button, but the product seems to cover great..and looks like it will protect over the winter

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New cosmolene type finish Nice color, easy to apply but somewhat difficult to blend into scratched areas

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use I used an under coat gun for the body cavities, drill holes where needed. On areas with open access I used an old paint spray gun. You can easily see it covers by the gloss. Time will tell how well it prevents rust. I live near Buffalo,NY and most cars rust away in 10 years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy duty antitrust Used this product on our new SUV and overall pleased with it. I would recommend multiple layers for better protection. Also, use this stuff in a very well ventilated area with a fan on as it tends to get everywhere, including your windshield.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well The flexible nozzle sprays in several directions at once and allows you to keep the can vertical. The sprayed material can seep into crevices and seal them. It takes several days for the smell to go away and that may have been because I sprayed a lot into inside of the trunk lid.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from "protection costs" In todays world we rarely get what we paid for Or we pay alot for it and while Eastwoods Anti-rust is rather pricy just think of the job it does 24/7 and your getting a deal . So if your restoring an old car or pick-up don't give rust a chance on your project protect it Anti-rust flows into tight places and stays put I used it behind all the patch panels I installed and two years later they still look great , Thank you Eastwoods ..

Questions & Answers

Does the arosol can of heavy-duty anti rust product come with the 24" flexible wand like the internal frame product

Asked by: Garymjr
The aerosol can does not come with the extension wand. However, the wand, which can be purchased separately: http://www.eastwood.com/aerosol-nozzle-w-24-extension-hose.html, will fit and is able to be used with his can.

I am planning on removing the rust from my underbody, applying fast etch rust dissolver, pre prep, epoxy primer, and then chassis black paint. Would I be able to apply this product on top of my final paint coat on a yearly basis to seal and protect it?

Asked by: JosephM
This is a great product to apply from time to time in your frame and areas you wish to protect.

In the past I have used a similar product that dealer ships use, once applied continued to creep, into seams, cracks, crevices and not waxy as I recall. I want a product that continues to work after its been applied. Is this product similar.

Asked by: Dr Phil
This is a wax/ oil based substance that will self heal if cracked. It is designed to prevent rust issues from occurring.

If I use this on the inside of an 86 Mustang trunk lid seam I will probably get it on the lock mechanism which is just above the seam. Will that present a problem with the truck lock or lubricate it ?

Asked by: Ricardo D
This is a waxy substance that should not affect the lock mechanism. Just try to minimize how much you spray on it.

For inner sections with surface rust, would you use rust encapsulator to treat and seal the existing rust and THEN apply this over the top? Chris

Asked by: Akeyzoo
In inner sections I would recommend using the internal frame coating. This coating will work the same as the rust encapsualtor will. But being that it is on an inner panel where you might not get into to get most if not all of the rust off. The internal frame coating can go right over the rusted area and encapsulate the rust. There would be no need to place anything over the internal frame coating.

What's the easist way to apply this stuff inside boxed sections of say a truck cab? Do you sell a spray gun for this or a aeresol can with like a wand on it

Asked by: mustangnut302
Our internal frame coating would be ideal for inside frame rails. Our undercoating guns will work well for applying either of these materials.

how do you typically access the inside of the rockers? How much is typically needed for a mid size 4 door car (BMW E30)

Asked by: bobv
You can generally access the rockers through access holes that are already there. If there are no access holes, we offer a Unibit and plugs that can be used to cap the holes. http://www.eastwood.com/unibit-drill-bit-for-undercoating-plugs.html Most cars will require 1-2 cans.

Is epoxy primer compatible with this product?

Asked by: robertwhite29
If you mean epoxy over top of it, NO. Heavy duty anti rust is a thick waxy coating that can technically go over any surface and coat it. But if you have epoxy down already and want to spray over top it would work.
