Application Tips

Ensure surface is clean and free of debris. Wash with soap and water, let dry. For really dirty surfaces with embedded contaminants, use Eastwood PRE Painting Prep. Shake can for 2 minutes. Hold can 8 to 10 inch from surface, apply in light coats waiting 5 to 10 minutes bewteen coats. Apply until complete coverage is acheived 2 to 4 coats. Do not apply heavily, allow the surfacer to penetrate the substrate.

Makes any plastic a rich matte black like a OEM factory finish. Just don’t get lazy and not CLEAN plastic parts prior to application. 5 stars!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jeep body parts. I used this to restore the fender flares and rear bumper on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler. It was a Florida car, and only saw the inside of my garage if I was working on it. The fender flares and rear bumper were badly faded by the sun. I cleaned the surfaces with the prep from Eastwood my neighbor provided. That was how I learned about this product line. The Plastic Restorer had a very controllable spray pattern. I did all 4 fender flares at the same time, and I noticed there were a couple of runs on 2 of them. It was getting dark, and I decided to take care of them the next day. I was surprised the next day, the runs had all but disappeared. I would have taken care of them on another vehicle, but not for the Jeep I use for a dog mobile and off roading. With a little time it’s hard to find the runs even knowing where they were. The flares and bumper look great. They have been thru mud , gravel and rain with no noticeable change. It does appear that a can will cover every bit of 5 square feet. I did 4 fenders and the rear bumper with 2 cans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super happy with this product So far this stuff is really tuff 1year of dash being in the sun and hasn’t faded. Wish they had more colors. Doesn’t chip off either. I will say though I painted some rubber and leather materials and it just never dried to them. So make sure it’s just plastic you paint.

will this work on plastic camper windows

Will this work for the to side of the plastic fender liners that sit on the inside of the engine bay and are exposed to heat from the engine

It will adhere but we do not have any temperature testing parameters to know how well it will hold up under these conditions.

I used this product when you first brought it out on the black plastic trim on my 2006 Trailblazer. Very pleased, but It is now showing its age and I would like to reapply it to freshen up the look. What sort of prep is needed to reapply it over itself?

Just be sure to clean and degrease the surface- dish soap and water would be fine to use. Allow it to fully dry before reapplying this over.

Can I paint this after applying and drying?

Rather than being a paint this product is essentially more of a dye to re-dye the plastic surface. It will be very durable and UV stable. We recommend our SEM interior paints if your looking to paint plastics and vinyl.

I have a 2000 Chevrolet tracker and would be restoring front and rear bumper and side trim, would one can be enough?

Hi , It depends on how bad the surface area is and how much product is needed to get back your factory black finish, i would guesstimate 1 can per bumper and 1 can per side of the vehicle. you can always return any unused can of paint if it wasn't needed

I get that this is a dye that gets taken up by the plastic, so recoating black plastic trim is OK but but am unsure what happens if I apply it to plastic switchgear with white writing. Any advice appreciated.

This will discolor the wiring; even if removed asap. The wiring should be masked off r covered before applying this if this is a concern.
