Accessories

Use the Reusable Sprayer (34111Z) for more even application. Coat mounting hardware threads with Anti Seize Compound (43236) to prevent threads from corroding.

Application Tips

Make sure surface to be coated is free of any coating or rust. Abrasive blast or wire brush to remove all rust and other coatings. Liberally spray derusted manifold with PRE Painting Prep (10041Z) and allow to dry. Apply two medium coats (dabbing with a disposable foam brush works well to minimize brush marks), allow coating to dry overnight before reinstalling part on car. Coating does not need to be heat cured however it will further cure on start-up in 20- 30 minutes. Paint is thin enough to spray right from the can. Clean up with lacquer thinner. Use a fresh cartridge in a quality respirator if spraying.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint Awesome from the start, I painted headers on the car. Used a 1 inch cheap brush, they turned out GREAT. I started the car up and warm it up to 100 degrees. Let it sit over night next dsy started it again warm up to runing temp. Let them sit over night. Took car to a car gathering and headers have never looked better. Paint has NOT peeled off only put one coat on. It's nice to pop hood and see painted haders instead of rust. Changed whole look to engine bay. Dave

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is what it said to be I was very skeptical when I started searching for some paint to cover my rusty exposed black header pipe on my VW Baja bug After applying and waiting for cure time I noticed it was getting darker. After the cure and the first 2 hours of driving I was so amazed by the outcome of the finished product. A little costly but less expensive than purchasing a ceramic coated pipe I love the black appearance and after several hours of driving it still looks as great as it did the day I put it on very pleased with this product. I have purchased some Eastwood products in the past, but this by far was my top choice pick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Applicaton I've got a scooter where the exhaust pipe and muffler are VERY close to the rear wheel and with summer temps, tire got so hot you couldn't touch. HTC went on very easily and made noticeable difference with tire temps.

Questions & Answers

I am looking for paint for my old exhaust, and removing absolutely all rust isn't possible. Can this be applied directly onto rust, assuming the surfaces are clean and dry?

Asked by: NorTor
To give this paint the best adhesion and greatest durability the rust must be removed before paint by either sanding, grinding, or blasting the part.

Can this product be reduced and sprayed from a paint/primer gun etc?

Asked by: Steve
This product can be sprayed or brushed on. It is thin enough to spray directly from the container without needing to be reduced.

Can this be cured off the vehicle? If so, what is the recommended cuing process?

Asked by: eric818
Yes it can be cured off the vehicle. You will need to bake them in an oven for a similar result, cold to at temp engine temps, and repeat.

im changing the engine color on my Harley to black. will this work and can I spray it from my hvlp gun ?

Asked by: jjddii
We do carry catalyzed engine paints that do not require a bake cycle. But yes technically it will work but the bake cycle will still need to be performed for a longer period of time.
