Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome This stuff does not have great reviews but I thought it worked fantastic. It's like spraying confetti. It is not meant to cover, so the area must be painted before this is applied. One can goes a long way. My son really only needed two cans to do the trunk area on his 1970 Cougar, but he used three since we bought three. The clear that goes over this is also good stuff. I noticed that Eastwood has this trunk paint on closeout. I hope that does not mean they are discontinuing it altogether because I planned to use it again on our next project. We did have a few spots bleed through but this was poor prep on my part. I know now to clean well and paint before applying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why not tell us it's water base and has to be seal Color matches great. Only complaint, why doesn't it tell you when you order this that its water based and needs to be sealed? Had no idea until I read the can. Would have been nice to know ahead to order some clear at same time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from gray white trunk paint been using this for a long time, be careful though, ive had a few cans not work after they have been sitting. perhaps 1 or 2 months. i would use pretty much right away and not leave these hanging around. otherwise a good product, looks close to original.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertised Was very satisfied with how this worked. I used one can to blend some surface rusted spots in my 62' Bel Air trunk. Started with clean & prep. Then rust encapsulated the spots, primed with gray filler primer then used this product to top coat. Finished with clear coat per product instructions. It was not a perfect match, I will probably coat the entire trunk at a later time but at a glance it looks great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just a thought ... You must use gray primer for the gray & white and black primer for the black .. bare must be cover or it turns brown ... take more than a kit to do a entire trunk ..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great but sags on verticals I painted this over gray primer and it covered and looks great but it sagged on the vertical areas. I may have sprayed it a little too heavy but I didn't think I was. I recommend light coats. I'll buy another can to fix the sags before I clear it. I don't know about the final performance yet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from water soluble/drops of water make it separate Got some water in the trunk, after using this and the diamond clear didnt expect that water to cause the paint to separate, but it did...

Questions & Answers

My trunk is sprayed in epoxy primer. I sprayed it a couple months ago so it is fully cured.  Do I need to scuff the epoxy primer with a scotch brite pad or sand paper before spraying the trunk paint for good adhesion? also will it stick to seam sealer?

Asked by: dads toy garage
You will want to scuff the epoxy primer down and the trunk paint will stick to the primer and seam sealer.

Do you seal with clear befor or after using trunk paint ?
