Questions & Answers

Can i use this with single stage 3:1 paint outdoors in 50 degree weather? Is it possible to just extend the flash wait time and drying wait time?

Asked by: Iratut
At 50 degrees you would essentially extend the Flash wait and drying time. It may be hit and miss depending on weather/humidity I'm not sure by how long.

Can this medium activator be used in 85f temps? My weather/time window isn’t allowing for 70-80f anymore unfortunately.

Asked by: NSApple
For use of this activator over the recommended temperature we recommend accompanying with our Slow Reducer to prevent dry spray. https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-s-slow-medium-fast-urethane-reducers-qts.html

I'm using TCPglobal urethane single stage paints, will this activator work ? Their paint is 4 to 1. Their # is AU4001

Asked by: Rick
We only test our paints with our activators and can't guarantee compatibility between manufacturers.

can I add 14158ZP fast reducer to 21856ZP activator for spraying in the cold?

Asked by: cj3a1949
Reducer can be added to any urethane material but it will extend the drying time. By adding reducer you're adding more solvent that needs to be released from the material. Reducer speeds are relative to each other - fast is quicker than medium, which is quicker than slow. They do not cut the cure time of the material itself. For that you would need a faster activator. With any of our paint materials you will not need a fast activator because they should never be applied in cooler temps than about 65 degrees, with 70 and above being ideal.
