EW Urethane Clear 2:1 Quart

Description

Premium European resins in this Urethane Clearcoat produce excellent durability and UV resistance. This Clear requires the use of Eastwood 50252ZP Urethane Activator.

  • Easy to spray flat, and even easier to polish
  • Long-lasting protection from UV, chemicals and weathering
  • High-solids content to build quickly and avoid shrink-back as it cures
  • Covers approximately 35 SQ FT

Eastwood Euro Urethane Clear is a premium 2:1, high-solids clearcoat made from superior European resins. It dries fast, with a beautiful gloss and excellent DOI. Flows and levels easily with no shrinkage or dieback. Features excellent durability and long-lasting UV protection, weathering and everyday wear. Mixes 2:1, 2 parts clear, 1 part activator.

MIXING RATIO

Thoroughly mix two parts 50250ZP HS Clear in gallons or 50251ZP HS Clear in quarts, with one part 50252ZP HS Clear Activator. For even better spray-ability, 2:1 mix may be reduced with a urethane-grade reducer or other appropriate solvent product. Doing this will improve the flow and leveling. Eastwood suggests using a Zero-VOC reducer to avoid potential compliance issues.

Use caution in mixing materials as HS Clear may begin to gel after approximately two hours (at 70 °F).

SPRAY GUN SETUP

  • HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.3-1.5 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 25-30 psi
  • Conventional Gravity: Fluid Tip 1.3-1.6 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 45-50 psi
  • Conventional Siphon: Fluid Tip: 1.4-1.8 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 45-50 psi

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Apply Eastwood HS Clear in two medium wet coats, with a 10-minute flash period between each. Clear should be dry to the touch within 10 minutes, and will be tack-free within three hours (at 70 °F). Do not recoat between one and eight hours after previous coat. Additional coats may be applied after eight, but before 18 hours (at 70 °F) have passed from completion of previous coat. Ideal application temperature is between 70°F and 90°F.

For increased depth and gloss, well cured clear may be wet sanded and recoated with one to two additional wet coats.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time painter This summer I leaned how to paint off a popular online channel...ahem, and this is the only clear I have sprayed. I found with 10% reducer added in and proper surface prep, it lays down like a sheet of glass. I'm on my third project now and it just gets easier. I am super impressed with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Activator no longer included with paints! When I bought paint in the past it included the activator. So in order to make the paint price look better they no longer include the activator...but the paint is useless without it. Very disappointed with Eastwood''s marketing department but the product is still very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really like this stuff The beat thing is this stuff doesn't post flow forever like some clears. Since this was My first time using and I was painting a relatively small sign, I decided to use my HVLP detail gun, and it just didn't have the horsepower to really lay the product on ( which is why I used it, in case this stuff just kept flowing ). Anyway, gun maxed out, and about 10 percent thinned, I managed to lay out what looked like a new car finish. I have no doubt that had I used my big gun, I could have laid it on like glass. LOVE this clear, just love it!

Getting ready to spray truck bed with this clear, how long do I need to let it cure before I can put tape on it so I can spray bedliner in the bed?

Asked by: Tony
You can tape after 8 hours but you should allow a minimum of 24 to 48 hours for this clear urethane to off gas before applying a bed liner.

Would EW Urethane Clear 2:1 be appropriate to spray over an automotive urethane paint?

Asked by: JeffM107
We can not guarantee compatibility with paint that we do not sell, but this clear works great over our SSU and Basecoat clear coat paints (acrylic urethanes based).

It appears online that all 4 of the items Urethane Clear + Reducer + Paint Chart + activator all together for $31.99. Can this be true? Again it appears that way Where it states " " Purchase All $ 31.99. Wow, if true I will order.

Asked by: Papa
No. In the section in reference, there are small boxes to the top left of each item that would have to be checked off. Then it will give you the price before shipping and tax for the items you have checked off.

Can I use this clear with an LVLP spray gun and an 8 gallon air compressor to shoot the roof of my car. What kind of results should I expect with such a small compressor? Thank you

Asked by: Don R
We can not make recommendation on air pressure based on a paint gun we do not sell. This can be used in LVLP paint guns but air pressure would be a recommendation that the manufacturer of the paint gun should make.

Just finish painting Plymouth today the paint turned out great issue I have now I sprayed the clear and forgot to turn up the air pressure from the base coat settings the clear looks bad. Like to know how to fix the issue. Please help  Thanks Tom

Asked by: Tejjj
We would recommend sanding the clear so it is flat assuming you have bad orange peel from the low pressure. You will want to work from 1000 grit up to 3000 grit then compound and polish the vehicle.

Asked by: Gasman
This could adhere to the basecoat as long as it is scuffed up and cleaned.
