Safety Information

Always wear eye, face and hand protection when using chemicals and apply in well ventilated area.

Application Tips

  • Eastwood ExoArmour is a two-component formulation with some very unique properties which require special attention and handling during the mixing stage before application. When Part A and Part B are combined, they will initially repel each other as will oil and water. It may require up to 1 full hour of periodic stirring to fully become hydrolyzed. At this point the mixture will have an opaque, yellowish appearance. This is completely normal.
  • The Eastwood ExoArmour must be applied in a very thin film. A cured film thickness of 0.0003" is normal. If higher film thickness is desired, apply in multiple coats.
  • The surface to be coated with Eastwood ExoArmour must be thoroughly cleaned and completely free of any oily deposits, polishes or any type of surface contaminates. Use Eastwood #10041Z PRE, Pre-Painting Prep or a good quality acetone. Failure to do so will diminish the products’ ability to offer full protection.
  • Apply Eastwood Exo-Armour in temperatures above 70°F [21° C] and humidity less than 70%.
  • Eastwood Exo-Armour should be allowed to fully cure for 5 full days before subjecting film to abrasion or rough contact.
  • If Eastwood Exo-Armour must be removed, use chemical strippers or abrasive blasting.

Can this be used on a stainless steel fire pit screen? Will it hold up to direct flames?

Unfortunately we have not done testing for this exact application. We strictly test for automotive use. Although the paint is temp rated up to 2000F- I we can't recommend you use this coating for this scenario.

After curing, I needed to tape off the applied Exo Armour in preparation to paint. I used a microfiber towel dampened with alcohol to remove trace amounts of tacky tape glue when finished. Did I inadvertently remove or compromise the Exo Armour?

Hello, is Ex0-Armour better than clear coat. I did purchase you ex-armor, but now I read some negative reviews on your website. Also if I use the exo-armour can I also do a gloss clear coat over that? Thank You, Michael

Asked by: Michael
It's not that Exo Amour is better than traditional clear. It is different, the main design of Exo Amour is to protect bare metal. We have never tested adding a standard clear over our Exo Amour.

Can this material be used to finish over maple wood, like on a maple wood baseball bat? Would it add to the durability of the wood if used?

While we have never tested this product directly on wood it should certainly be possible to coat wood with. We would have no data if it would add or subtract from the durability of the wood.

I used fine Scotchbright on my body side mouldings to give them a satin appearance, would wiping this on them maintain and protect that appearance? Would I need to reapply it at regular intervals?

If Exo Amour is used on an aluminum head, would it make the aluminum hold more heat, thereby affecting the performance?

The Exo Amour is a product designed to go on very thinly and isn't designed to be an insulator. With that said we have never tested for amount of heat it may or may not hold in.

Since this is a two part system that can be used over regular paint (like your extreme chassis black) can I then use your 2K clear over top the ExoArmor?

Asked by: Rich
While we have never tested this process it could certainly work. It would be much easier and less expensive though to simply buy our Ceramic chassis black in gloss. This way you will not need a clear and get a super shiny surface.

Can this be sprayed on?  I want to clean up then coat an original under carriage.  If any mild surface rust will it stick?  Could patina preserver be sprayed over this as well Incase I miss a spot?

Asked by: JoeT
The Exo Amour can certainly be sprayed on with an air brush or detail gun with a .6 tip. This product may not be your best choice under a vehicle as it cannot be applied over rust. The whole thing needs to be clean bare metal. If you were to use the patina preserver could be applied over top.
