Eastwood Extended Legs For Modular Blast Cabinet Heavy Powder Coated Steel Construction

Application Tips

Modular Blast Cabinet 20464

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Modular last cabinet leg extensions These legs were perfect, I can now stand and media blast my parts without having to lean over or find something to sit on. When I was first interested in these, I couldn’t find the height anywhere. To pass it on for others the legs are 36 inches tall

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy construction I mounted mine to two studs with two 3/8” lag bolts. I have about 25lbs of aluminum oxide media added to it. No issue at all with weight. Im sure i could put 100 pounds in it. Also, it is Easy enough to put the legs on it too. I might take the front legs off because the cabinet hangs off the wall now. I also got the Eastwood dust collection for it. Its an awesome blaster and awesome vacuum. I read alot of reviews before i bought it. some people would say the air filter on the side of the cabinet is “crap”. I disagree, All this filter needs to do is keep the dust and media inside the cabinet. The vacuum pulls air through the filter so no dust should really get close to it. It is more than sufficient for this purpose. I bet i could take the air filter off and just use the vacuum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Modular blast cabinet I've owned a couple cabinets and this one not only works but works well. In hindsight I should have ordered the legs for the extra 50 bucks or so but ultimately I built a table. Nice unit, Eastwood does it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I bought this to help out my project, so that I could blast it then paint it the same day. The cabinet opens from the top and makes it easy to load parts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality and Value I recently bought this blast cabinet and it was delivered very quickly. I was impressed with how complete its assembly was. I put the legs and fittings on and it was ready to go. I am restoring an old truck and it has come in handy for brackets and parts that I want to refinish. I would recommend highly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Served the purpose Recently the leg kit for my blast cabinet. It was a good choose. Height of the cabinet is comfortable now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good mid size blasting cabinet This product was easy to assemble and is made of quality materials. I also purchased the extended leg kit to make it a free-standing unit for easier access. The top opening door makes it easier to load and unload parts than side opening door on other similar units. Good quality unit for a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Blaster. Not too big, not too small. I have been using this blaster non stop for a month, and couldn't be happier. I have the unit connected to a 33 Gal compressor, and have only stopped a few times to let it get back to pressure. Unit is well built, came with seams already sealed with caulk, and the gloves are very heavy duty. When it first arrived the short, included legs did not match the pre drilled holes, a manufacturing defect and not Eastwood's fault. They opened up a few and and realized they problem, sent me a pair of the taller legs for my troubles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the price Bought this unit to replace an old Harbor Freight cabinet. Also bought the leg kit to save bench space. Assembly was easy and quick, everything fit perfectly, and operation couldn't be easier. Have blasted about 75 pieces since I got this and it works great every time. I restore old stamped steel toys and this cabinet makes them look like new again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice cabinet, fair price! This is my first blast cabinet. I've been using a pressurized "pot" from TSC that works well outside, but I'm tired of losing media and being out in the weather. After looking at small cabinets at TSC and Harbor Freight, I decided to spend twice the money for a slightly larger unit from Eastwood. I don't live close to one of their stores, so I had to trust the photos, descriptions, and reviews here. The Modular Cabinet was on sale/reduced price(?) and they were offering free shipping for Independence Day, so I took a chance... FedEx delivered it today, so the shipping was quick, even with the Holiday! The cardboard box had a few dents on it, but the cabinet only had one slight "ding" on the bottom flange. It was mostly assembled, so my wife and I finished the job in about thirty minutes. I filled it with 60-30/60 Black Beauty grit that I had on hand and tried it out. Worked pretty good for the price! The light isn't bad, but it could be brighter. I'll probably add another one myself. The caulking inside IS pretty poor, as another reviewer already stated. I removed the intake filter, slid the foam pre-filter on it, then re-installed the filter so the flat ring is holding the foam pre-filter in place. I hooked up a small ShopVac to the exhaust port, and everything stayed where it should. To install the elbow for the vacuum, I took off the deflector on the inside, sprayed the elbow with Windex, and slid it through the grommet from the inside. Then I replaced the deflector. I don't really know what the instructions say, since I didn't do more than glance at them. I read enough reviews and watched too many You Tube videos that said they suck, and they do! Anyway, I'm happy with my purchase so far. My wife even asked if she can use it!!! I'm happy with my first purchase from Eastwood, and will probably buy from them again. Thank you...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cabinet at a great price Used my cabinet for the first time a few days ago. Mine had a small media leak at one of the weld seams in the hopper but I caulked the seam and no problem there. Works great and is the perfect tool for powder coat prep. I'm using glass bead right now but I need to get some aliuminum oxide as well for more aggressive stripping

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value This is my first media blasting cabinet and I love it. It was well packaged and really easy to put together. (Only took about an hour) This cabinet is well made, easy to use and had no leaks after blasting. The LED light is really bright. The blasting gloves seem well made and durable. The blasting gun is light weight and worked very well. It has gas lifters for the top and a big viewing window. There is a 1 1/2 inch. vacuum exhaust port on the back, to hook up your shop vac. I'm using the Eastwood Dust Collector which works well with it. I bought the extended leg kit which has the blast cabinet at a comfortable height for me. I'm looking for things to blast around the house now

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cabinet Bought this cabinet recently and am really enjoying it. Very easy to use and had no problem setting it up. Could be packaged a little better but shipping companies could care more about there jobs too rather than beat the tar outta every package the deliver. Great cabinet for the money. I did a lot of research and opted to use Eastwood. Will be getting my business in the future for other tools.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems ok Haven't used it much yet but seems to work ok except for that it doesn't feed the abrasive media evenly and that I haven't gotten the air line fittings to seal up they leak a little , I like the size and concept but to me just a little pricey for what it is.
Date published: 2022-01-31
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product. Unit is of better quality than most. Has a decent light, and good sealing, and good door struts. However, residual sand in hopper section is reluctant to slide down, and sides have to be tapped regularly to keep pickup hose supplied.I did install a good moisture filter on the side, so the media is dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Works good. No leaks that I have noticed with shop vac attached. Was easy to assemble. Only reason for 4 star rating is wishing light was brighter inside. Adequate for most people probably but my old eyes could use better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glad I bought a top opening unit I have to wonder if the people that designed the lighting in this cabinet every tried to use it. Glad I bought a top opening unit given much of the time I'm blasting in the blind. I end up opening the top multiple times to inspect the part to see what I've missed. Doing that in a side loader would be a real pain. Other than the lighting I really like the cabinet. It comes mostly assembled which was appreciated. The gun works well and the ceramic tips last a long time. I'm in the process of adding adjustable height casters to the legs to level and raise the cabinet. Additional lighting is a must have. I'm trying weather resistant LED lighting with a magnetic base for the interior of the cabinet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Close to perfect for our home shop. My wife asked for a blast cabinet to clean grungy parts from the 1966 Ford Thunderbird we’re restoring. This meant upgrading to an 80-gallon compressor. Bummer! I mean great. It was the perfect excuse and the idea wasn’t even mine. We added the tall legs to the blast cabinet and the height works well with a tall adjustable stool. It’s easy to load and big enough to do the front springs. The only demerit is for the shallow pitch of the hopper due to the modular nature. I’m adapting a bolt-on concrete vibrator to keep the media sliding toward the pick-up on the bottom. We use the Eastwood dust collection system and wall mounted it next to the cabinet. It’s hose could have had an adapter to easily attach to the tube supplied with the cabinet. This was easily remedied but belies the “Universal” nature of the dust collector. Otherwise, it’s perfect for our 1st blaster!
Date published: 2021-11-01
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for smaller jobs Solid construction. Missing exhaust elbow and the dust filter plugs rapidly. Will likely end up “engineering” a better exhaust/dust solution. Bottom slope is too shallow to feed media reliably if not fairly full.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good and easy to setup I bought this unit because it was a mid size cabinet that fit on a bench. I like top loading feature for space savings. The unit arrived 80% assembled and all I had to due was put on the legs and a few attachments. I use a vacuum on the exhaust port and do not see any media leaks. My biggest dislike is the integral drain plug/ media pickup. It makes for more difficult media changes. And, add in the lack of space to access the bottom plug if on a bench/ table. You literally can not get two fingers under this its such a small gap. (not an issue for those of you who buy the longer leg kit.) But all in all it seems like a nice unit. Yes, the light is not super bright and yes you have to bang on the cabinet at times for the media to drop fully to the pickup tube.... But all in all a nice mid size unit that performs well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from doesn't leak Good bead blaster use for small alum parts only.Taped seams with sealing tape to prevent leaking glass beads.Only issue was gloves were installed in blaster had hole in cuff taped up.Would give 5stars if glove holes were bigger for more arm movement.
Date published: 2018-01-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from works well... but First thing is my unit was partially assembled.. This might seem like a good thing but , for instance, I had to take off the inner shield to get the plastic elbow in for the vacuum port. The gloves and hose were installed, which made getting the working grate out a bit of a challenge if you had not done it before, and the lousy instructions dont help either. Other than that the unit works fine. I only wish there was a better explanation of grit sizes out there. What I have found on the web doesnt help when the local supplier has a choice of fine, med, coarse. If your looking for 60 grit will 20/40 work? how about 80/100. That would be a good tutorial for Eastwood.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Does this unit require a separate purchase of an air compressor?  If so what model or size is recommended?

Asked by: Kevin
Yes, as stated this unit requires a minimum of 7cfm@90psi. You will really need at least a 60 gallon compressor or larger to run this successfully.

This will not arrive with a media selection chart but we do list one on our website underneath the link for our instructions for this item that you could copy and print out. These cabinets will work with media that is 60 grit or finer (60 or a larger number) with the exception of sodas.

Yes, this cabinet would certainly work for your applications. You will want to use a less aggressive media on softer metals such as glass beads.

The best media to use for light rust would be our aluminum oxide, no matter what media you use it will require you having a vacuum system hooked up to take the dust out of the air.

Why does the small table top unit require 10cfm @ 80lb. and the medium size table top require only 7cfm at 80lb.?

This depends on the nozzle you use. Each of these blast cabinets will come with 4 nozzles, the smallest of which will allow the unit to only consume 7 CFM.

What size/power shop vac is needed to keep up with the blasting? Is the shop vac attached to the right side of the cabinet? That's the same side the air compressor will connect to, correct?

Asked by: SBPs
The vacuum attachment is actually on the rear of the unit. As for shop vac we would say at least a 1 HP shop vac. You're just trying to move enough air to pull the dust out of the cabinet.
