Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are good! They state that this is and external compressor but what makes it good is that it can be used internally. I did all the springs on my 65 Cutlass/442 with this tool.( I had an internal compressor but on the Cutlass springs the arms will not grip the coils. ) I put two of the compressors inside the spring on one side and in the correct position which put a slight bend in the spring which is necessary for installation and with two of them it made it safe in case on failed. Once the spring is in place I raised lower control arm a little and removed both compressors through the bottom hole in the arm in pieces. Very easy and safe.

Will this remove the shock springs on a 2019 Polaris ranger 1000 xp

Asked by: Bob74
This tool is designed to be a universal coil spring compressor for automotive use not application specific. I looked up a picture of the spring in question. It looks like it should allow the tool jaws to engage properly but without seeing an actual spring it is hard to be 100% sure.

Will this compress a 7/8" diameter coil spring?

Asked by: johnt1915
This compressor is only rated to 3/4" diameter spring. 7/8" would not be safe to use with this spring compressor.

Why won't this work on a MacPherson strut coil spring?

Asked by: Phil
The Macpherson strut coil springs are extremely hard to compress and require a special tool to do so. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Since these are a universal design they should work perfectly on any vehicle with a coil spring.

can I use this to expand the springs to put the firestone air ride helpers inside?

Asked by: tommy twotone
That might require a kit where you use this tool to remove the existing shock and instal slightly larger coil springs to avoid friction under compression.  When my dreidel farm truck slams down on my air assist shocks the bladder rubbed on the coil. Short story..blatt! $650 new set of air assist shocks and some slightly larger coils designed to work in that setup.  But this tool should work fine for removal and install.  If you need to drop the connections apart a little put a very small hydraulic jack in but dont go beyond factory tolerances.  I bought all parts at dealer made for my truck..i trust the engineers
