Product Overview:
Description
Eastwood's Fish-Eye Eliminator is designed to combat fish eyes or cratering in urethane finishes. Fish eyes are caused by contamination, most often in the form of silicone, water, oil and/or grease on the substrate. The best defense against fish eyes is a properly prepared surface and clean work environment; however sometimes, despite efforts to keep things clean, contamination appears. In those situations, a little Fish-Eye Eliminator goes a long way to ease surface tension and allow the coating to flow properly. 16 ounce can treats 16 gallons of sprayable paint.

This works
Used this years ago. Took a little effort to find it. I put it in some tremclade black to do my out drive.
This stuff works. I brushed, not sprayed. You could watch the paint flow out. The Outdrive looks like it was powdered and clear coated.

New user loves it!!!!
Had an issue with urethane acrylic fish eyes and this straightened it right out. I love it. Just a few drops per quart and BAM! couldn't have been simpler.

Fisheye
Seems to have worked. I wish it came with more directions as I'm just a home garage painter without much experience. I didn't know if you added this to base coat or clear coat or both. I just added it to the clear coat and it worked. Also I didn't have any info on how much to use. The direction says to add 1 oz to a quart; however, I was only making up a little for a touch up job so I just used a kitchen measuring spoon to add about a teaspoon full. Other paint direction say, for example, to use 2-1 or 4-1, etc.

Questions & Answers
Since I'm a beginning painter working in my garage, why wouldn't I want to use the eliminator as a preventive measure in the case I haven't cleaned the surface as well as a pro might have?
Using Fish eye eliminator when not needed will cause more harm than good. It can tend to cause orange peel, makes paint etc. softer for longer time frames and can even cause adhesion issues.

I got job to do the high gloss finish using the Hollandlac from fine paints of europe this high end project doing the walls and make everything sharp as it should at the end, so that's a good idea to use this product on that particular paint? Thanks.
Eastwood"s Fisheye Eliminator(14498Z) is an excellent product and will work with most Urethane paints. It will help the paint flow out.

Do use mix it with the clear and paint both?
You can use the fisheye eliminator in both the base coat and clear coat if you decide that the situation is bad enough to warrant it.

Once sprayed through a gun will fish eye eliminator contaminate the spray gun and require this additive to be used from then on out?
You will want to add the fish eye eliminator in with the spray gun as an additive.

Is this product compatible with a spar varnish? I have major silicon contamination and I am using Epifanes spat varnish. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Unfortunately we can not guarantee compatibility with any other brands or items we do not sell. This was designed specifically with the formulation of our paints in mind.

Can I use it to spray paint plastic surfaces
This product doesn't go on any surface by itself. You use Fish eye eliminator in the paint you're spraying as a last resort to stop any fish eyes in your paint. So if you have prepped the plastic correctly and used an appropriate adhesion promoter there wouldn't be any reason you couldn't use this product.

Can this fish eye eliminator be used with acrylic enamel paint?
We have only ever tested our Fish Eye Eliminator in Urethane paint. We do not know if it would work in Enamel paint.
