How to Add Strength to Sheet Metal With a Basic Bead Roll

Of all the uses for a bead roller machine, making a basic bead roll is where it all begins. Flat pieces of sheet metal gain incredible strength by simply pressing a channel or groove into the surface. These are typically used to strengthen floors and firewalls as well as other structural sheet metal.

The tool that does that is a radius die set mounted on a bed roller drive, either manual or power-driven. In this video, Jamie Jordan walks you through the basic technique to roll straight, consistent bead rolls using the 3/8-inch bead dies. The skills learned here will get you started making custom sheet metal panels and will carry into more advanced bead rolling skills later.

  1. @MJD In that video, he was rolling 18ga steel.

  2. It would be useful to know in your videos as to the type of material and its gauge
