New Product Overview – Eastwood Benchtop Powder Booth

For DIY powder coaters, one of the common challenges of the process is managing all the excess powder it generates. Large spray booths are often out of the budget for hobbyists, and they take up a lot of space. Spraying over the shop garbage can – a popular alternative that even we’re guilty of doing – has its drawbacks too. The reality is, without a way to collect it as you work, you’re going to get powder everywhere.

Recognizing the hobbyist’s dilemma, Eastwood developed the HotCoat Benchtop Powder Coating Booth Kit. Designed around the humble, industry-standard 20-inch box fan, the kit is versatile and compact. It integrates a fiberglass filter with folding steel booth panels that double as rack supports. A key to the filter’s success is its included tack spray, which helps it capture over 99% of overspray.

The powder-finished doors create a plenum effect to channel powder over the work and through the filter. Made of 18-gauge steel, they’re hinged to fold flat for storage, taking up little more space than the box fan itself. Openings in the panels support hanging rods to support your work while you spray.

Replacement filters 20” x 20” x 1” can be picked up locally or through Eastwood. One can of the tack spray will treat up to ten filters. All that’s required is a standard 20-inch box fan, which buyers may already own. Assembly is quick and simple, converting the fan to a versatile multi-function tool that still works great as a fan. However, this kit should NOT be used for spraying solvent-based finishes, as most fan motors are not shielded for flame resistance.

The Benchtop Powder Coating Booth is available individually or as part of a complete package that also includes the HotCoat PCS-250 powder gun and Benchtop Powder Coating Oven for a complete DIY powder coating shop for small spaces.
