The crew over at Hot Rods by Dean have been busy as can be this winter working on getting the 2014 Street Rodder Road Tour Car ready for the summer. Recently we got a sneak peak into the recent progress on the car from Dean’s body shop foreman Sean.
The last bit of fabrication on the body was when Sean had to fabricate the custom center tunnel pieces for the car. Luckily they had just received our new Benchtop English Wheel and he whipped them up quick with no need for filler or smoothing. These guys make it look TOO easy!
The body then went to primer and paint and was covered in a lovely shade of deep red. This thing is REALLY red, reminds me of the red found on a certain Italian super car manufacturer. With the body all painted and assembled the crew married the body and the roadster shop chassis together and continued reassembly. This is where the fun (and stressful!) part of the project begins. As each shiny part is bolted to the car the Impala takes shape and we can really see how great this thing is going to look rolling down the street.
After a little bit of a wait the drivetrain finally showed up for the car and they just recently got it installed in the car and the mechanical side of things can continue. With a deadline for the completion of the car in early May these guys are going to have to work their butts off to get it going in time! We can’t wait to see the final product in person at the Eastwood Summer Classic in mid July at our PA. headquarters! Watch this space for updates on the 2014 Street Rodder Road Tour and the Eastwood Summer Classic.
