Eastwood Heat and Sound Barrier Coating 1.5 Gallon Kit is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy Professional restoration shop. First time using this product as per customer request. We normally use Eastwood X Mat but customer wanted a spray down heat and sound. We are very happy with the way it applied and sprayed. 3 coats over bare steel brand new floors and seam sealer. It laid nice and adhered well. Cant speak for sound and heat. Its not our car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heat and sound barrier kit I cannot attest to the claims of Heat or Sound qualities as of yet. (i am still in the process of building my car). I mainly wanted to use this as an undercoating to make sure that all of my efforts of replacing floor pans and rusted out areas did not go in vane. it went on very nicely and sealed the floor much better than I had hoped. I will use this product again on the inside of the vehicle.

Can this be applied on the exterior roof on a van for heat/sound? Can I topcoat this on the exterior roof with a 2 part catalyzed polyurethane based coating (ie. Raptor)? I plan to spray the entire exterior of my van with Raptor as my final top coating.

Asked by: DoItMyselfToo
As this is a super strong catalyzed product you can certainly apply to the roof of a vehicle. As for applying a bed liner over top we have never tested but it shouldn't be a problem. We recommend testing a very small batch first to ensure. Give the heat and sound barrier about an hour to flash off before top coating.

Can I use this to paint the bare metal ceiling of my truck ? Under the headliner.

Asked by: JimC
The sound barrier can certainly be used direct to metal.

Seems like a good product to apply to the inside surface of a powder coating oven to reduce the amount of heat consumed by the oven material itself. Your thoughts?

Asked by: DIY101
This would be outside our test parameters. The product is good up to 600F which is lower than cure temperatures. The only fear would be near heating elements that may be way hot and could possibly burn the material.

This must be the first product to go down if you wish to layer it.

Will this also act as an encapsulator?

This product will not act as an ecapsulator. You will want to clean down to bare metal first.

To use this product under the car or fender wells , what would you use as a black top coat , ceramic chassis black ? Rubberized under coat ? ?

Asked by: Pat412
You could apply the chassis black or the rubberized undercoating over top to give a nice black appearance.
