This is great tape!I've used this tape for many years and for many different purposes. Simply put, it is polyester film with silicone adhesive. That means that it can be removed cleanly from most surfaces...no residue...and that's a big deal. It can even be removed from paper IF you don't let it on too long. It has a very wide temperature range. However, the claim of 400°F is completely bogus. The silicone adhesive will take it but the polyester film is only good to 300°F not 400°F. At 300°F polyester film will begin to shrink and curl. Bare that in mind when you use it. Nevertheless this is great tape and can be used for all kinds of things. It is great masking tape. Also, if you want to hang something on a wall and later remove it...great for that. In the automotive sense, I use it to mask areas for painting.

Does leave a residueThe tape left a residue that caused fish eyes and poor adhesion along the tape line. The rest of the panels were perfect but the clear coat looked terrible were the tape was applied.
I am in need of 1/8 inch wide tape that will stick to house hold type paints will this be suitable?

Initially used to block Powder coat form hitting these areas.
It will stick like any masking tape, although it may not stick long term. to household paint.
It it is to be used for the short term it will do the job.

Will this tape work as masking for spray (rattle can) painting?
