Eastwood Internal Frame Coating Aerosol Black

Description

Internal Frame Coating destroys rust hiding inside the chassis, so it does not rust its way through. You spend time and money restoring a chassis, but what about all that rust inside the frame? Use our Internal Frame Coating to make your chassis rust free throughout. Tough phenolic resin penetrates, converts and encapsulates the rust on the internal surface. Zinc phosphate seals it to prevent future corrosion. And the 24 inch long tube with conical nozzle reaches in to spray coating in a radial pattern for complete coverage. Aerosol covers 10 sq. ft. and quart covers 50 sq. ft. Fully cures in 24 hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I used three cans to coat inside my Toyota FJ62 frame. I recommend using a heat gun or blow dryer to straighten the spray straw. From what I can tell the inside of frame rails were thoroughly coated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood internal frame coating is the goods! This IS the best product that eastwood sells! And it works well. I`ve used it on several vehicles with great results, it flows real well into tight fitting areas and between metal such as uni body cars where you have body tin that is spot welded together, inside of rocker panels, internal frames, k frames, sail panels, inside rear light panels, inside doors, the far front nose sections of front fenders, roof pillars and panels, frront cowels upper and lowers. The cool thing is now there`s green and black, the black is the way to go. Ive actually taken two hoses and attached them, zip tied em to a small 1/4" bamboo and used that to get way into hard to reach areas, such as rocker panels, roof sail panels on fastbacks and truck frame rails. Yep at first it can be a little messy, but once you see how fast to move the product, and how much it covers, it`ll get easier for you. Throw down a plastic tarp you don`t care about, use gloves, cause it is a little hard to remove form your hands, but proper PPE procedures remind us (ddduuuhhh) to where gloves when handling chemicals and products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Internal Frame Coating Sprays and coats the inside of frame better than advertised using the 360 extension nozzle, but I found, after using the first can, it worked a lot better once I attached the extension with a dab of contact cement. Something like “Crazy Glue” probably would have worked just as well or better, it definitely would have been neater. I used two coats of the Internal Frame Coating on the inside of the Jeep YJ frame. For the first coat, I used the Internal Frame Coating - Green, because of the contrast of the green to the black of the frame, it was easy to determine, using a colour inspection camera, that I hadn’t missed any area, and that the interior of the frame was evenly coated. Then I used the Internal Frame Coating - Black, for my second coat, for the same reason, contrast, using the inspection camera, I was able to determine that the entire surface of the frames interior was evenly coated and that I hadn’t missed anything. When using this product, it always works best, when you follow the manufacturers instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Love this product. Keeps all my classic projects rust free for generations beyond me. The extension nozzle is great for those difficult to reach spaces deep in the frame and the body that notoriously collect water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ad a small wire n cntr hole of nozel an Ienth of tube will help a bunch It works good I air nozzle blowed my frame out real well before . Another thing I did was the hose was flimsy I used a peace of stif wire same size as the middle hole in nozzle end drilled 4 more holes around the sides it was great if you don’t do the extra holes the wire helped out a bunch being able to move it around and up and down also I could bend it make it get into the hard to reach areas

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spraying insine the frame I like the tube that comes with the coating for reaching inside the frame, the only issue I had is the tube wants to coil up so I had to work it a bit to get it to straighten out. The coating itself is awesome !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff, apply 2 coats I really like this stuff in coat the inside of rocker panels and frames. Just did a Jeep TJ frame repair, this helps cover areas internally that welding burns off, do you best to clean the inside and blow it out, I used a dryer vent cleaning brush, heavy stuff try cable with a couple of small sections of chain. Used a tig rod to tape the hose to to help maneuver it.

whats the shelf life of a can of internal frame coat? I bought some cans 4 years ago, never used them, but now i would like too ....

Asked by: Dave
Generally our spray cans have up to a 2 year shelf life. At this point we would recommend a test of the product on some scrap metal to see if it still sprays and hardens.

I have what appear to be tiny rust bubbles in the paint around the rear wheel well on my F 150. The body shop said its from where the inner wheel well and outer side panel come together. should I use internal frame coating to get into the seam?

Asked by: Bikerdad63
Since the rust is coming from a weld seam the Internal Frame coating will only be a temporary fix. You need to cut out a section of the bed side to allow you to clean up the rust and the weld in a new patch.

For hard to reach areas such as internal body cavities that are near impossible to sandblast or paint that are heavily rusted is it better to use rust encapsulator or internal frame coating?

Asked by: Harry07
I like this internal frame coating best for the first coat as it has very low surface tension and readily flows into the smallest cracks and joints. Spraying the encapsulator as a second coat is a favorite of mine as it covers with a slightly thicker coating and is less expensive to use in a given area. The spray nozzle provided with the frame coating is designed for only certain spray cans. the cap and tube CAN BE modified. the tube can be inserted into most other style caps by simply drilling an appropriate hole in the alternate cap.

will this withstand 400 degrees for powder coat

Asked by: Jet56
This product must be in direct contact with metal to convert and protect. Any that oversprays existing paint will simply act as a topcoat of paint. That means that there is no ongoing protection by chemical process in areas where the metal is already painted prior to application of this product.

For unreachable external frame rust, can I spray this on it and then apply the 2K ceramic chassis black directly on top?

Asked by: Jay117
While this product could be topcoated it really isn't designed for such areas. This is best used inside areas. Our rust encapsulator is a better option to spot in areas on a frame.

Can I use this product to coat the underside of my rear fender flare that is rusting?  Would I need to remove all the visible rust before applying this product, or can I simply spray over the rust?

Asked by: GeneralP
The internal frame coating is designed to coat over existing rust that you cannot actually prep. Try to get this product to seep into the seem in which the rust is coming from to truly be able to stop it.

do you have longer wands than 24" or would I have to modify it

We do not offer longer wands as this would make it harder for the paint can to push the product. With a 2 foot hose you would only need to have access every 4 feet to thoroughly coat the frame.

From the video, it appears that the rate at which the applicator hose is withdrawn as the product is applied is approximately 1"-2" per second, or maybe a foot in 8-10 seconds. Is that about right for proper coverage?

This would be an acceptable rate of application.
