BASECOAT PAINT MIXING RATIOS
Thoroughly mix four parts Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat with one part Low-VOC Urethane Activator. Use Fast (50308ZP) for small jobs, or temps below 75°F; Medium (50309ZP) for small jobs, or temps between 70-85°F; or Slow (50310ZP) for large jobs, or temps above 80°F. Keep in mind, other factors, such as humidity, air flow and total film thickness should also be considered. In many situations, it will be useful to add 10%-20% 50104ZP Zero-VOC Reducer to aid sprayabliity, flow and leveling. Remember, this is an activated basecoat system; only mix as much as is needed. Pot life is about 2 hours at 70°F.
PAINT GUN SET-UP
HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.4 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 8-10 psi
Conventional Gravity: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.5 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi
Conventional Siphon: Fluid Tip: 1.3-1.6 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Apply Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat color in two full medium wet coats with a consistent 50% overlap pattern. Allow five to ten minutes flash time between coats. Flash time should increase if additional coats are applied. Most colors will cover in two coats. A third and final coat may be applied to set even metallic pattern. If required, apply this light coat immediately after the previous full wet coat, moving the gun with faster passes, from further away. Mist basecoat onto the wet film until the metallic pattern is uniform.
Basecoat should dry dust-free within 10-20 minutes. May be lightly sanded in as few as 20 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before wet sanding. Wait 45-90 minutes before taping on the fresh film. All dry times are approximate, at 70°. Temperature, air flow, total film thickness and other variable may extend these times.

Great color
Having never painted a car before and doing it in the driveway I was hesitant to use metallic for my first time. With the Eastwood videos and tech support it was easier then using a rattle can on lawn furniture. Prep is everything. I started with Eastwood’s epoxy as a sealer. I used contour filler to make everything flat then sprayed 2K gray primer sanded smooth before 2 coats of metallic Jaded Green topped off with 2:1 European clear. I haven’t sanded and buffed my Jeep yet but couldn’t wait to share my pictures.

Great product
Having never painted a car before and doing it in the driveway I was hesitant to use metallic for my first time. With Eastwood’s videos, tech support and the confidence from my father in me it was easier then using a rattle can on some lawn furniture. I used Eastwood’s epoxy as a sealer, contour body filler to make it flat, Eastwood’s 2K gray prime sanded smooth then 2 coats of Jaded Green metallic and 2 cost of 2:1 European clear. I haven’t sanded and buffed my Jeep yet but couldn’t wait to share some pictures.

Fantastic color
Just finished spraying this color plus the 2 to 1 clear coat on my 73 olds Omega. Added side striping and man did this color pop. Exactly the results I anticipated. Paint & clear went on smooth w/ great results. Extremely satisfied with the results since this was only my 2nd paint job. Thanks Eastwood great product. PS paint should be packaged in a can similar to the gallon clear can. That large mouth gallon can quite messy when pouring. Thanks we are HAPPY!!!!

Questions & Answers
do i need a clear coat over the jaded green metallic since it just says basecoat and doesn't say single stage
Yes, our 4:1 Basecoat will need a compatible clear coat like our Eastwood 4:1 High Solids Urethane Premium Show Clear - 128oz (15351ZPPKG 128OZ)

Hello I'm a few weeks out from painting my entire car and it looks like the temps are likely to be in the high 60F to 70F range. I've already purchased the slow activator with the basecoat. Should I switch to the fast activator or will the slow be ok?
Slow will be A-OK

Can I use a clear coat that doesn't have to be sanded and buffed
Our clears do not necessarily have to be sanded or buffed. The best clear we offer is our Premium show clear. Any other brands you would need to test on scrap metal first or on a small section before applying liberally over everything.

How long can paint be stored, unopened? I want to take advantage of sale, but wont paint till next year. Talking about the jade basecoat.
We would warranty this paint for a year from the purchased date as long as it is sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled environment. However, it should be able to last at least 2-3 years as long as stored accordingly.
