With a strong steel construction, this Rotary Cutting Shear and throatless design makes it perfect for cutting up to 18 gauge sheet metal. The handle makes it easy to operate and maneuver while cutting. The blades draw the material into the throatless body so that the user does not need to feed the material into the tool.

How large and how small a sheet can I cut, i.e., can I cut something that is only one inch wide or cut a 12 x 12 sheet of brass in half? Will the metal curl up on me if I cut small pieces of 20 gauge brass, say, 1" wide?

You could certainly cut a 12x12 sheet of brash in half. The metal shouldn't curl but simply be pushed down about an inch as it feeds through the unit. It also should be able to trim smaller 1 inch sections as well.

Can this be cut 2mm metal sheet

Since this is only rated to cut 18 gauge steel it will not be able to cut through 2mm. Our 8 inch bench shear will be able to cut through your 2mm steel though. https://www.eastwood.com/8-in-bench-shear.html

My cutter arrived, but isn't cutting anything. It's just marring the metal sheets, which are much thinner than the gauge limit. I checked everything and it is set up exactly as the instructions outline. What's wrong?

It is possible that you need to loosen the two allen set screws and adjust the blade height every so slightly with the black knob on the side.

1. Can this be used to cut 14 gauge copper sheet? 2. Does it leave a slightly wavy edge like tin snips do, or is it a smooth edge?

Your snips should Not leave any waves either like this machine will Not leave waves. I have been using snips in the skilled trades and after all these years l'm on a smooth lake like glass when ever l cut. Just do not cut to the tips of your snips, or pulling up on your snips as you cut, cutting them out like that and you should not have waves or even fish hooks on your steel cutting straight or curves. Good Luck time will make you a old pro
