What is Single-Stage Paint?

A traditional two-stage paint system requires applying the base coat and clear coat separately. Instead of this time-consuming process, a modern single-stage paint kit lets you achieve high-quality results in half the time — and at a much lower price, too. With a 3:1 mix ratio (3 parts paint to 1 part activator), these paints are easy to mix and easy to apply. As urethane-based paints, they are far more durable than traditional acrylic lacquer paints. Although not required, a clear coat can be applied to provide a deeper finish and additional protection.
