(Q) How long does the baking process take?
(A) For improved flow out (less "orange peel"), bake coated parts at 500 degreesF until powder flows out (about 3-4 minutes for light sheet metal parts), then turn down the heat to 400 degreesF for a full 15 minutes.

(Q) What are the electrical requirements?
(A) This HotCoat Gun requires 110-125VAC, 2 amps at 50-60 Hz. Can be used with a voltage transformer such as 220-240VAC to 110-125VAC as long as the transformer can handle 2 amps.

Safety Information

Use a disposable dust mask when handling or applying powder. Powder, like common flour, can be explosive when suspended in the air in high concentrations. To minimize any explosion risk, sweep up—do not vacuum—powder from the floor. Cure powder in a well-ventilated area. The urethane powders we sell liberate a very minute amount of isocyanates when the powder flows out. This usually occurs about 3-5 minutes after the part is placed in the oven to bake. Wear a respirator with fresh filter cartridges when curing or inspecting flow-out progress.

Application Tips

Why Powder Coat? What are the Advantages of Powder Coating?

The PCS-250 Dual-Voltage HotCoat gun is one of the best powder coating guns on the market today. Why powder coat? Because it gives you one of the most economical, color-durable and longest-lasting finishes available. You'll find powder coated surfaces are far more resistant to chipping, scratches, fading, and wear than other finishes, and the color selection is virtually unlimited, with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. And thanks to the UV resistance of many of the powders, colors stay bright and vibrant longer.

Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, plus rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections. One 8 oz. bottle of powder (not included) covers the same area as 2-3 cans of spray paint, and clean-up is easy since you can simply sweep-up the over-sprayed powder. This powder can be reused as well if it's not contaminated. Eastwood powders contain no environmentally harmful solvents so you can be planet-conscious as well. HotCoat powder coating requires a 5-10 psi compressed air source and a dedicated electric oven (or toaster oven).

Can I Powder Coat in My Own Garage or Shop?

Owning a dual-voltage electric powder coating gun means you can apply this technique to springs, valve covers, tri-flow radiators, vehicle body panels and anything else that needs a quality finish. One quick-change empty powder bottle is included and you can easily add more. The tool is designed to our exact specifications with a handheld activation switch, air inlet, removable diverter tip and grounding system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ralph from Reno Absolutely one of the best tools I've ever bought, super easy to use and also fun as hell to do. Have powdered so many parts on my hot rod in the past couple weeks it's ridiculous the money I've saved by doing it myself. If you don't have one you really should buy one you'd be doing yourself a favor

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beats the heck outta rattle cans. First time using this type of home PC gun set up. I do have past experience running larger industrial type PC systems for Caterpillar Inc. This system worked as well as the big money set ups at a home hobby price. Finish came out as good as expected/required on aftermarket boat trailer parts I started fabing myself and selling on various websites. So far I've powder coated at least 40 pieces and the finish has been consistent. Using HF PC paint with my set up and I am very happy with the investment I made in this PC system. Would recommend for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood pcs-250 powder coating gun I haven't got to use it yet, but my son has used it for powder coating parts for his Mitsubishi Evo and said that it works great! Thank you Eastwood!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better that HF I am not a professional powder coater. I started with HF (Central Machinery) setup a couple years ago and always had issues with powder flow and powder not going on to thicker metal (1018CF (mild steel) 1/2" x 3" bar) well. This gun has resolved my issues. The higher voltage and better flow has made powder coating much easier. I have not had to redo any parts with this gun and power supply.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great unit Great gun... some really intricate pieces need preheated, but really easy to use, clean, and great results

Rated 5 out of 5 by from like so much.. I'll take 2.... nice easy to clean, one piece unit design is nice for someone like me who puts it away after each use. powerful and very consistent flow work perfectly with light flocking for even coats making one coat effective for most projects that don't require 2 or 3 coat steps in the color process. I like it enough I'll be purchasing a second unit for faster multi color project instead of trying to find an expensive upgrade not needed for the work I do with this gun. I highly recommend it straight from the box and that's a rarity in my world.. thank you

I would like to powder coat the outer part of some chrome wheels. What do I have to do for prep?

Asked by: geno
We would recommend blasting the rims and then outgassing them. You would then need to wipe them down with pre painting prep and then they can be coated.

Can you explain the differences/improvements with this model over the old Dual Voltage Gun (item #11676)?

Asked by: Justin
A lot of the improvements are visual for this gun such as the clear cup to better see powder level and a sleeker look all around and even more room in the trigger area for users with larger hands to easily use. However, there is an improved pickup system as well as a few other internal improvements as well to make the user experience more pleasurable.

What size air hose do i need?

Asked by: Knottcho

I am new to this process. I understand the powder is attracted to the metal surface due to the charge running through it. What makes the powder stay in place between that and putting the item in the oven? Is it stuck on at that point before the bake?

Asked by: VinceM

The internal dimensions (15.12-in. x 12.83-in. x 10.71-in.) is this usable space or just the metal case inside measurements? I am interested to know the distance between the top and lower heating elements. What is the tallest an item can be? 10.71 inches?
