Eastwood Silicone Wax Dirt Powder Remover Pre Painting Gallon

Application Tips

Works better than lacquer thinner that can leave a film behind, possibly compromising paint adhesion. Use to prepare surfaces for all Eastwood paints, including our exhaust manifold paints. On waxed areas, or surfaces that may have silicones, more than one application may be necessary.

PRE Painting Prep is a blend of solvents that may damage plastic, so please test first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well Seemed to clean hidden dirt off my sandblasted headers quite well. One can did clean both long tubes, but as with any spray cleaner, two cans would have been better. Hang your headers and start from the top. Follow the dirt trail running off with the spray to make sure all containment’s are removed. I’d recommend one can for each header to thoroughly clean inside and out if you’re coating inside and outside like I did.

Will this product work effectively if there's still some patchy paint and primer on my trailer frame? I went over the entire frame with a wire wheel but only ground to bare metal where necessary to remove rust.

Asked by: Jack
Its possible this could harm the existing products down. We would have no way of knowing without knowing what type of existing finish/products were down. be sure to test a small area first.

Do you use this before you paint a dash

Asked by: Quance
If this is a metal dash this would be fine. If applying paint to a plastic dash then a safer cleaner needs to be used such as this: https://www.eastwood.com/sem-xxx-universal-surface-cleaner.html

Prior to polishing a car, I like to remove existing waxes and sealants and also between passes of polishing. Can I use this product for that purpose?

Asked by: HydroAirJoe
It depends on the type of coating that is on the surface. If it is a catalyzed product, then this would be perfectly fine. A solvent based solution such as this could damage non catalyzed coatings.
