I want to blast the outside of my log house to remove the finish.  The company that supplies the finish says walnut media would probably work best. But is there another economical media that would work, without destroying the surface of the logs?

Asked by: Raysplace
Although we do not directly deal with construction style work we have heard that Soda blast media is another great option to remove a finish without any damage to the substrate.

What should you use in the the first 150 dm 40004 for best results

Asked by: John
This greatly depends on exactly what you're blasting. Aluminium oxide is great for thicker metals and rust removal while glass bead is better for thinner softer metals for general cleaning.

can I use walnut shells and if so what grit.

Asked by: Reno
We do not recommend using walnut shell as it is too large of a particle size. You will want to only use blast media which are 80 grit or finer.

Is this the same as ALC Deadman Abrasive Blaster — 150-Lb. Capacity, Model# 40004 ? And what media would be recommended for use on prepping outboard engines for repainting?

Asked by: TL1880
This unit is the same as the 40004 blast unit. It will be great for running any media 80 grit or finer which should make it the perfect choice to run a media through to clean up outboard engines.
