Description
Clean old metal without the need for potentially harmful solvents with these with the Rockwood Pistol Grip Needle Scaler. They work fast on heavy rust, scale and caked-on grime removal from most heavy-duty steel or cast iron frames and components. How does a needle scaler work? It has a hard-hitting 1-11/16-inch (43mm) stroke with 6-inch (150mm) chisel fingers for maximum effectiveness. Speed is easily controlled with an infinitely progressive, rotating knob control that reaches up to 4,500 beats per minute.
Air needle scalers are an essential shop tool for restorations and are also commonly used to preserve and refurbish ships. They remove rust and scale quickly without letting the grime collect in hard-to-reach areas like solvents do. With an air scaler, you’ll have the clean surfaces you need to weld, prime and paint. Works Great!
First used on CAT953 parts with heavy rust. Works great! Especially good in nooks and crannies where it would be hard to get to with a rotating brush.

Rust Buster
Great clean up tool. I use to work on cargo vessels in the Gulf of Mexico and that is where i was introduced to the 'needle gun'. This one works great, gets into very small places. It is also not overpowered so you can clean up more delicate items.

Early impressions, good price.
My early impression is this will be a good tool to knock down rust. Tried it on my old Barden bumper and took care of the rust as well as shook off the dried mud on the other side as well. I
do wonder if it will be too much for the thin stuff and look forward to trying it on a scrap piece.

Great tool to have for chipping off rust and scale. I have a large needle scaler but sometimes a smaller one is so much better. More nimble in tight spots, this pistol grip fills the need great.

Scaler for undercoating
I used this needle scaler to remove the old undercoating from the bottom of my 66 Chevelle. Couldn't be happier with the results. In many places the hardened undercoating just popped off as soon as the scaler hit it. Sure beats the old way of heating and scraping.

Shocked how well it works for the price
Bought this needle scaler for a back-up and ended up needing it to complete some frame stripping on an old ford frame. Works just as well as another brand that I paid a lot more for a few years ago. I worked this scaler hard for a few days and it is holding up 100%.
I would recommend this scaler!

Most excellent tool!
I bought this tool recently. All I have to say is it is amazing. I used it to remove old rubberized coating in the front fenders of my 67 Valiant. 40 mins worth of work and it was done. I am using a 25 gallon craftsman compressor so I had to stop to let it catch up but not often.

Loud and effective. Remember earplugs as well as a face shield.
Not as aggressive as I thought it would be, but it still does the job. All of the other tools I had tried didn't do the job, but this scaler is at least 50% more effective. On a side note, when I took the tool out of the box, a friend of mine was standing next to me and turned white. It seems he has some not so fond memories of using one of these while in the Navy.

convenient size and good balance. worked well on light rust, haven't tried it yet on heavy de-scaling. does leak oil from motor housing. worth the price if it continues to work.
