Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works even when 10 years old! I used this on the outer inner fenders & the inner outer fenders on my 1965 Ranchero. I'll say this, I had a case that had been in my garage for at least 10 years, & every single can worked! It's easy to apply, has a good nozzle, & looks good. Only time will tell if it really encapsulates the rust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best rubberized coating better than other rubberized under coatings, sticks to virtually any surface, & lasts way longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I have been using this product for many years, both spray can & brush on. Product works great, I brushed some on my battery compartment area and it stayed clean for 5 years before we sold the motorhome. Bought a new motorhome and using the product on the under carriage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressive Painted under car in about 50 degree weather. It still dried fast no drips. I did prep the surface extremely well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Applies evenly as a aerosil I have purchased 6 cans to undercoat my Oldsmobile and it covers well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Messy but tough as nails Every surface on my 1966 Mustang which might get salt, water, rocks, asphalt, etc. is covered in this rubberized undercoating. I used 3 coats of Eastwood Epoxy Primer as the base and then sprayed the undercoating on top. I happened to drive through a gravel driveway of a gravel mining yard, and I got some water and gravel dust mix which kind of looked like concrete on the under side of my fender. It washed right off with the low pressure sprayer. Dirt and grime just don't stick to this stuff, and the rubberized texture flexes and repels rocks. It is highly recommended to protect your car's undercarriage from salt and rust.
Date published: 2020-03-04
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Finish I used this product under the entire chassis of my Mustang. The underside was first degreased, wire brushed and lightly sanded before applying. This stuff has a really strong odor so make sure your work area is very well ventilated. It sprays on nice and smooth and it took about 10 spray cans to do 2-3 coats under the entire car. The spray mist is heavy and falls all over everything including yourself so be prepared for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would buy again Sprays on well covers nice heavier coat, have not been ob road so dont know how it handles rocks.
Date published: 2019-02-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Results I have used this product several times on several different builds, but more frequently on CJ series jeeps. Works very well all around especially in wheel wells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Stuff.. I love this stuff. I pulled the carpets on my TJ and sprayed the floors front and back. Didn't have to wait overnight for it to dry which was nice and made the project quicker. Goes on nice and thick. Also did the undercarriage of Jeep. Im an older guy and the loud mufflers are passé for me and this stuff made the cabin nice and quiet inside like a luxury Jeep.LOL Beats the heck out of rust that's for shure..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Product A+ Use the rust Encapsulator on my exhaust line and other parts under my truck after removing the rust via a soda blast. Looks brand new, and is holding up great. All autos should be treated with this prior to being sold or hitting the road for the first time. Thinking about using is now on my iron work railing that surrounds my deck. Read the instructions and you will have awesome results!
Date published: 2018-01-19
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better in this can thru an undercoating spray gun You'll find you use more product, but thru a spray gun you can apply it more accurately. I did do an area with a brush as well, which was very time consuming but you can reach places a gun with an airline attached can't reach. All stating the obvious here but that said I think this is better than the spray can. I have used 2 cases of spray cans and got them on a "deal day" as it was called... I feel it was too thin using the spray cans and required several coats. Using Eastwood's Undercoat Spray Gun, I got just the right amount of product applied in one round, much quicker! You might spend a bit more this way, but you will get superior results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works but only as good as you prep the rust I have done a 13 year old F150 and a 13 year old Land Rover with this product. Prior to spraying I converted most of the rust with Corroseal. I had to wire brush extensively and even cut out some frame rust. I also blew air into the frame before internally coating. I did three coats and used about 3 cans for each vehicle. If prepped properly it dries hard and does not come off easily. After two years some spots came back that were not prepped well. I used the same method and it is now holding after three years. Cannot complain for what I paid along with the effort applied. I also will be applying NH Oil over this each fall as the magnesium chloride used on our roads is extremely invasive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised 2001 F250 in the Northeast used as service & plow truck. Frame and Cab have the 17 years of rust and corrosion expected, no rust through in body. Surface rust on frame easily removed. & this product in aerosol does exactly what it says pinpoint accuracy without hitting exhaust pipes. Zero clumping or bubbling. Zero overspray. Video is accurate and this product is reliable. 10 cans bought 9 cans in, and I have the entire frame, entire cab floor,8ft bed along with wheel wells and fisher plow frame mount completed to MY satisfaction. Do it yourself or don't bother. I have read some negatives on coverage and elasticity. I dont believe that. shake the can and follow direction. then shake some more. there is a noticeable feel to the can when it has been mixed properly. I got 99% of product out of those spray cans, without any nozzle clogging. Failure to have common sense or follow MFG minimum directions is your own fault. I may have only finished this undercoat an hour ago. But I am extremely confident in its quality.

Yes, Eastwood Fast Etch(19416) will leave a invisible Zinc Phosphate coating on the steel that can be painted over. Just wipe the surface with Eastwood Pre Painting Prep (10041Z) before spraying.

Can I spray the 2k epoxy primer over clean metal and then the rubberized encapsulator over that for a top final coat? I do have chassis black as well but I seen its not recommended to spray chassis black over the rubberized am I correct?

Asked by: Justin
The rubberized encapsulator would have to go on top of the epoxy primer. The rubberized version would not be able to be top coated with anything.

I've heard horror stories about rubberized undercoatings done professionally by Ziebart and also DIY jobs done with "off the shelf" rubberized undercoatings causing the under side of a vehicle to rust out faster than normal. Can that occur with this stuff

Asked by: Andrew
As long as the surface is dry when applied the encapsulator in the undercoating will seal the bare metal from any kind of moisture which can be trapped in with the usage of non-rust encapsulator based rubberized undercoatings.

You would really need to use a heat gun and a metal scrapper. Chemical strippers might add in softening the material for easier removal as well.

Would this be good to use on a flatbed  it has some rust areas and i will sandblast some spots before I paint

Asked by: G greg
This can certainly be used for this type of application. You firstly want to remove as much of any lose or scaling rust as you can. If there is any existing finish in good condition- scuff it with a red/maroon scuff pad (or 400-600 grit paper). Next clean and de-grease the surface with PRE painting prep. You can then spray this Rubberized Rust Encapsulator over everything. Because this dries to be a rubberized finish- it remains semi flexible.

If I use rubberized rust encapsulator on the underside of my wheel wells, can I then apply an oil based rustproofing/undercoating over it without causing the rubberized rust encapsulator to fail?

Asked by: Scottsdale 20
We can only guarantee compatability with what we sell. Once fully cured, this Rubberized coating can be top coated with our Heavy Duty Anti- Rust for example: https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-heavy-duty-anti-rust-in-black.html

You do not want to topcoat a rubberized paint with a standard paint. Rubberized undercoating remains semi flexible. Applying a hard finished paint over top would cause the topcoat to crack and peel of when the undercoating below flexes.
