Questions & Answers

Should I use something like the pre-painting prep aerosol: 1) Before spraying rust encapsulator? Or no need? 2) After spraying a couple of coats before paint? Or no need? Also, should I use a primer over the rust encapsulator before painting?

Asked by: ole21
Yes and yes. It's always good to use and apply a pre-cleaner before any coating. Just be sure it is flashed and dry before painting. No primer is needed. If you plan to topcoat after 6-8 hours of applying Rust Encapsulator, sanding is not required. However, if more than 24-36 hours have passed, you will need to scuff the surface with 320-grit sandpaper or a Scotch-Brite pad.
