great stuffThis stuff will eliminate surface rust. When you follow the directions it will leave you a nice paintable surface that will not "re rust", At least for a few days, I cant speak for longer periods as I always applied epoxy within a few days.

Great Rust DissolverExcellent product. I used it on the exhaust system It took out all the rust Without harming painted areas.
I plan to wire wheel the differential pumpkin and tubes. After getting all the rust possible removed, what would be my next choice to finish removing the rust in the pits and or left behind due to the lack of access.

Can Fast Etch be used in conjunction with, and prior to, Rust Encapsulator Plus? Or is it best to stick to the Rust Encapsulator Plus steps exactly as stated?
Asked by: Marko
Two different products and applications really. Fast Etch applies for rust removal and service preparation. However, it is not a primer, and treated surfaces should be wiped with PRE Painting Prep or thinner before priming and painting. Rust Encapsulator is more toward a primer step, stopping and preventing current and future rust.

The photo shows a disc rotor. Is this product something to remove rust on the rotor and then go directly into service or does the zinc phosphate need to be removed from the surface that the brake pads contact?
Asked by: Doc13
The product would need to be removed (neutralized) with a good wax and grease remover cleaner before going into service. No foreign material should be left on the pad area of a brake rotor.

Can I use self etching primer after using fast etch and cleaning with acetone first?
Asked by: Ben B
Yes, you can use a self-etching primer after using Fast Etch and cleaning with acetone. Fast Etch is designed to remove rust and prepare the surface, and acetone can be used to ensure the surface is free of contaminants. After these steps, applying a self-etching primer is appropriate as it adheres well to clean, rust-free metal surfaces. Self-etching primers contain acid that etches the metal for a strong bond, making them suitable for steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
