High-Build Primer Surfacer is a flexible acrylic coating for priming steel, aluminum, urethane, fiberglass and plastics.
If you've ever block sanded down to bare metal, here's an easy way to touch up. The SEM High Build Primer Surfacer provides superior adhesion with fast film build and flexibility when priming steel, aluminum, urethane, plastic and other similar surfaces. Sands easily with 320 - 400 grit. One 16 oz net wt. aerosol can covers about 15 square feet.

Sanded to bare metal an entire '00 Volvo S40. I then used the SEM 42003 Black High-Build Primer over the bare-metal car. Has this been a mistake? Do I need to sand off $150 and re-shoot with 2k Primer? What issues could I experience if I leave it HB?
While there technically wouldn't be an issue having high build on the vehicle the problem is on an over all paint job you would want to use with Epoxy primer or self etch as your base primer for ultimate strength.

How many cans would it take to cover a 1978 El Camino
Since each can covers approximately 15 SQ FT it would probably take 10-15 cans to cover the exterior of a vehicle. Since this is a non-catalyzed product it would not necessarily be the best option for durability. Can this be used over Eastwood Rust Encapsulator and then top coated with Eastwood Underhood Black? I am looking to cover pitting on Radiator Support, Headlight Buckets and the like. Thank you.
You can certainly apply this product over our Rust Encasulator to allow you to block sand the area smooth in preparation for our underhood black.

Can body filler be applied on top of this primer?
We do not recommend applying body filler over a non catalyzed primer such as this. The only one we sell you can do it over is our Epoxy primer.

Can this product be used on fiberglass? If so, does the fiberglass need to be prepped in some way before using?
This can certainly be used on fiberglass. Just sand the surface with some 320 grit to put some scratches in for this to adhere to.

Can I spray urethane color base coats directly on to this without sanding within a certain time frame?
Since this is a high building primer it is designed to be sanded prior to color coat to achieve proper film build.

For spot repairs, can this primer be applied over existing automotive finishes, and/or body filler, and glazing putty?
This can certainly be applied over top of all you have listed as long as properly scuffed first.

This can certainly be used over SEM Self-etching primer.

high build doesn't seem to be sticking to bare metal. Does temp affect it sticking?
Temperature will definitely affect paint adhesion. We always recommend to have the outside temperature along with the substrate you are painting up to at least 70F.

Can I spray this directly onto the SprayMax 2K epoxy also sold on Eastwood's site?
You can use this over the cured and prepped epoxy with no issues, but it's far better to stick with catalyzed automotive primers through the whole project if that's the way you're starting. The 2K Aero Spray Urethane Primer will be far better to use over the epoxy primer.

Great product, sprays like a gun/builds thick...sprayed my entire truck with it after filler and prior to blocking. Do I need to have my painter spray another primer/sealer (epoxy?) before base coat? Thanks!
The use of a sealer will depend on the paint system you're using - some require a sealer, some do not. Any that you'd choose to use should have no compatibility issues with this primer.
