BrakeQuip Tube Straightener

Product Overview:

Description

Straighten coils of tube quickly and easily with the BQ1028 Tube Straightener. This tube will make your next custom tube job look like it was a factory replacement. It is critical that any tube bending operation begin with a straight tube. This will free you up to match the exact bends of your original without dealing with imperfections in your tube.

  • Works on stainless
  • 3/16” to 1/2″ tube
  • Non Marking ABS Wheels
  • Heavy Duty Construction
  • 5 Point Precision
  • Vice mounted or Bolt straight to workbench
  • Fully Adjustable
  • Smooth Ball Bearing Action

The BQ1028 Tube Straightener was designed to provide the average shop the same results as much larger CNC machines. Using a simple 5 wheel straightening method it prepares coils of tube to be bent and installed. It works on any thin wall annealed tube from 3/16” to 1/2″ including stainless steel. The wheels are adjusted by a large knob on the top of the tool. Once you dial in the correct size simply pull the tube through the tool to straighten. The alignment wheels are made from ABS plastic and contoured to the shape of the tube. This leaves your tube unmarked and ready to be formed.

Finally a solution to straightening coils of brake tube. This tubing straightener easily straightens light wall tubing from 3/16 inch to 1/2 inch. The tool can be mounted in a vice or permanently mounted to a bench. All types of tubing can be used in this straightener, even stainless steel. Simply pull your tubing through the series of ball bearing mounted rollers and laser straight tubing comes out the other side.

Easy Adjustment-The easy to use adjustment knob makes changing tube size easy. Simply insert your tube and turn the knob. This fine threaded piece allows you to fine tune the tool to any tube size.

ABS Plastic Wheels-Unlike other methods of straightening tube the BQ1028 uses hard ABS plastic wheels. Hard enough to work up to 1/2″ tube but unlike steel rollers won’t leave marks on the tube. Each wheel contains a ball bearing system that creates a smooth action as the tube slides through.

Mounting Versatility-Easily mount the BQ1028 in a vice or use the bolt mounts to attach it to the side of your workbench.

How to Straighten Coils

Using the BQ1028 is easy. Simply bend the end of your coiled tube and insert into either side of the tool. Use the adjustment knob on the top to bring the rollers into position and feed the tube through. Once enough tube is clear of the wheels begin to pull the tube through with constant pressure. Use the adjustment knob to fine tune the alignment for your tube and pull the desired length of tube through the tool.

How To Straighten Pre-Cut Lengths

If you have a pre-cut length of tube that needs to be straightened it’s easy with the BQ1028. Simple push the piece through the alignment wheels and work it back and forth fine tuning the adjustment knob until all bends have been straightened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 8th Wonder of the World Right out of the box, in the vise, one adjustment, and it worked miracles on both used and new coiled tubing. Made a video on my cell and shared it with people. Maybe a little expensive, but hey, it works for me with no hassle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy built, very easy to use! I purchased this tool to straighten coiled 3/16", 5/16", and 3/8" tubing for hot-rod fabrication. The tool is heavily built and should last a lifetime. Initially, I used mine in a vise on 3/16" brake lines. Then later on, on 3/8" fuel lines. It works perfectly for both. The adjuster is easy to use and as you draw your tubing back and forth thru the rollers, it is very easy to adjust while pulling or pushing the tubing to straighten. I tried a couple of pre bent pieces and it doesn't work well on hard 90 degree bends.....it easily handles most anything else. The price is a little steep for an occasional user but the quality of the tool makes the price worth it. If you want traditional looking lines on your car and do not like the green coated sticks sold in parts houses, this is the way to go.

This tool is designed to work on any thin wall Annealed tubing from 3/16" to 1/2". Your .5" X.035 wall aluminum tube if Annealed will work in this tool.

What is the maximum wall thickness it will straighten? I'm looking at stainless steel 1/2 x 035.

Asked by: jackie27
The maximum wall thickness relies heavily on the tube material. As a general guideline, we recommend the BQ1028 to 0.035" wall annealed stainless up through 1/2" OD. Softer materials like aluminum, copper, or copper-nickel tubing can generally be straightened with thicker wall material at the same OD.

Will it straighten 1/4" aluminum rod that has been bent in multiple right angles?

Asked by: olaped
The Tube Straightening tool will do thin wall tubing only. Unfortunately this tool will not do solid rods.

How straight will it straighten the tube? Will there still be a noodling effect? If I needed it to be 20 ft long, would it be able to straighten that length?

Asked by: Name
The Tube straightener will do a great job on your thin wall tubing to make it straight as long as you take the time to adjust the rollers.

Will this straighten 6 gauge (0.162") solid round COPPER wire?

Asked by: RyanB
This tube straightener, will not work with the size wire your asking to do. The grooves in the rollers are to deep to allow your wire to be straightened.
