BrakeQuip Tube Straightener

Product Overview:

Description

Straighten coils of tube quickly and easily with the BQ1028 Tube Straightener. This tube will make your next custom tube job look like it was a factory replacement. It is critical that any tube bending operation begin with a straight tube. This will free you up to match the exact bends of your original without dealing with imperfections in your tube.

  • Works on stainless
  • 3/16” to 1/2″ tube
  • Non Marking ABS Wheels
  • Heavy Duty Construction
  • 5 Point Precision
  • Vice mounted or Bolt straight to workbench
  • Fully Adjustable
  • Smooth Ball Bearing Action

The BQ1028 Tube Straightener was designed to provide the average shop the same results as much larger CNC machines. Using a simple 5 wheel straightening method it prepares coils of tube to be bent and installed. It works on any thin wall annealed tube from 3/16” to 1/2″ including stainless steel. The wheels are adjusted by a large knob on the top of the tool. Once you dial in the correct size simply pull the tube through the tool to straighten. The alignment wheels are made from ABS plastic and contoured to the shape of the tube. This leaves your tube unmarked and ready to be formed.

Finally a solution to straightening coils of brake tube. This tubing straightener easily straightens light wall tubing from 3/16 inch to 1/2 inch. The tool can be mounted in a vice or permanently mounted to a bench. All types of tubing can be used in this straightener, even stainless steel. Simply pull your tubing through the series of ball bearing mounted rollers and laser straight tubing comes out the other side.

Easy Adjustment-The easy to use adjustment knob makes changing tube size easy. Simply insert your tube and turn the knob. This fine threaded piece allows you to fine tune the tool to any tube size.

ABS Plastic Wheels-Unlike other methods of straightening tube the BQ1028 uses hard ABS plastic wheels. Hard enough to work up to 1/2″ tube but unlike steel rollers won’t leave marks on the tube. Each wheel contains a ball bearing system that creates a smooth action as the tube slides through.

Mounting Versatility-Easily mount the BQ1028 in a vice or use the bolt mounts to attach it to the side of your workbench.

How to Straighten Coils

Using the BQ1028 is easy. Simply bend the end of your coiled tube and insert into either side of the tool. Use the adjustment knob on the top to bring the rollers into position and feed the tube through. Once enough tube is clear of the wheels begin to pull the tube through with constant pressure. Use the adjustment knob to fine tune the alignment for your tube and pull the desired length of tube through the tool.

How To Straighten Pre-Cut Lengths

If you have a pre-cut length of tube that needs to be straightened it’s easy with the BQ1028. Simple push the piece through the alignment wheels and work it back and forth fine tuning the adjustment knob until all bends have been straightened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I've been building my arsenal of auto plumbing tools for the last couple of years. Swallowing the $200 was tough, but the tool IS worth the money. If I used it every day, I'd not have blinked an eye. It is built solid and the rollers are smooth. It is very effective. I took it out of the box and ran a piece of scrap pre-coiled tube through it, and after figuring it out, it was straight as an arrow. FYI, if you are using this, and find tubing is bowing, loosen up a tick, and it will straighten right back out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brake quip Tools This is the latest tool I purchased made by brake quip. I was able to use these tools at the SEMA show this last November. I would recommend purchasing the complete brake tools. It makes straightening, bending, double flaring copper/nickel and stainless steel lines from 3/16 to 1/2" in record time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WORKS GREAT Took about 3 minutes to set up and produce straight tubing. Well built, should last a lifetime.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works really well I use this straightener on 3/8" Aluminum fuel line and 1/4" Stainless brake line. It works fantastic, you just have to "dial it in" which is easy to do after a couple passes. It doesn't waste any tubing and will straighten tube that has been severly bent as long as it's not kinked. It's a bit pricey (hence the imperfect rating), but does exactly what it says it does very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Straight tubing in a flash Have to fabricate custom brake lines for a car project. Since brake line is shipped in a coil, it was a hassle to get a straight piece of line, This tool will give you a straight piece of line any length, quickly and easily. This tool is well worth it if you have to fabricate brake or fuel lines, a real time saver, also works as a wire straightener.

How difficult is it you get replacement parts-wheels- when needed?

At this time there are no replacement parts available. We have yet to see one fail that would need any replacement parts.

In the description it says it can straighten tubing from 3/16 to 1/2. Now does the straighter come with all the dies to straighten 3/16 to 1/2 tubing? Or just one set of dies ?

Asked by: Electro
The knob on the top allow you to change the pressure of the wheels on the brake line to straighten it out.

How short of a piece can you straighten?  It always seems to work out with me that I have just enough left of the coil to reach or I have several short pieces left from previous coils that I could use if I could get them straightened nicely.

Asked by: Jaho
Bare minimum would be one foot long.

Description says 3/16 tubing size to 1/2 inch. But does not indicate whether or not different sets of the forming pulley wheels are needed to go from size to size. What's the true skinny here?

Asked by: drmayf
I haven't used the tool but will comment from my experience with machine tooling. The lack of sized rollers will not appreciably reduce the effectiveness of this type of tool. The tubing will guide, under straightening pressure, in the bottom of the radius of the forming wheels. It is adjustable so you should be able to dial it in with not too much trouble.
