This made he most noticeable difference after I installed sound deadeners in the doors, floor and headlining. The rear panel below the rear window has four 12x12 embossed area. These deadeners fit perfectly with minor trimming. When finished I attached 1/4 inch foil faced bubble insulation from inside the latch pillar over to the other latch pillar. Before I started I hit the panel with the palm of my hand and it sounded like an empty drum, after completion it sounded like slapping the side of a tree. Very happy I did this.

Double duty product
Bought these primarily to reduce heat through floorboard. It did that very well but also reduced noise quite a bit. Excellent product but rather pricey. Very easy to install also

The things you need!!
I used this product in the doors and the roof of a 1956 Chevy. It was easy to manipulate to get into the space as I needed to. I believe it’s quality product you can trust it.

Sound mat installation and review
I find the X-MAT super easy to install and it makes such a difference in the passenger compartment noise when driving down the road. Also the heat from the exhaust below the floor is reduced as well. Good quality stuff and usually on sale fairly often with free shipping!!

Same product as a competitor at a better price.
I haven't got to install this yet but it looked great. Handling the material i feel confident that will confrom to any body profile. I Have used simular product so I'm sure it will work well. So if I used a competitors product why did I switch ? Eastwood had a much better price.

If I use Textured Rust Encapsulator on my classic car's floor will the X-Mat properly adhere? I feel it should but would there be a big difference using textured rust encapsulator or your regular rust encapsulator product then applying the X-Mat over top?
This butyl rubber adhesive backed mat can be used over any of our Encapsulators (once cured) without any issues.

How much material will I need for a full size sedan 1987 oldsmobile cutlass supreme
We can not go by any specific make or model. You will have to calculate sq. ft. for your vehicle. Each of these kits covers 5 sq. ft.

How thick is your product? I am comparing this to someone else’s that is 80mm. I am looking for something much thinner, 40-50 mm

Will this replace the jute under the carpet?
The Eastwood XMAT Sound Deadening Material(15842) is not a complete replacement for jute carpet backing in that it does not provide the padding effect of the jute. It is far superior in providing sound deadening and insulation from heat. The foam or jute backed carpet would be layed over the top of the XMAT product to improve the quietness and temperature regulation of the vehicle interior compartment.

Can you apply it over EASTWOOD RUST ENCAPSULATOR PLUS ?
Yes, you can apply the Eastwood Xmat Sound Deadening Material(15842) over Eastwood's properly applied and cured Rust Encapsulator Plus. Please allow 48 to 72 hours for the Rust Encapsulator to fully cure(off gas) before application of the X-Mat product.
