Locating your VIN
You may find your vehicle’s identification number in several places throughout the vehicle, but the most common places to find it are:

  • DashboardLook through the windshield on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The VIN is often located on a metal plate or sticker attached to the dashboard, visible from outside the vehicle.
  • Driver’s side door jambOpen the driver’s side door and inspect the area where the door latches to the vehicle’s body. The VIN may be printed on a metal plate or sticker on the door jamb.

Pro Tip
To avoid confusing certain numbers or letters that look the same, all VINs defer to numbers when there may be confusion over similar-looking characters. To help with this, letters are always shown as capitals.

For instance, a “0” is always “zero” not the letter “O” on a VIN. Similarly, if you see “I” on your VIN plate, it is the number “one,” not a lower-case letter “L.”
