Excellent choiceThis is an excellent choice if you do not have access to air. The sander paired with the hook and loop sandpaper saved me tons of work out on the jobsite. The only issue I had with it was the last day I ended up using it for 6 hours straight. I do not advise doing that unless you have some type of glove that absorbs the vibrations or taking frequent breaks from it. I had issues with the feeling in my hands for a few days. Overall, I would still use this over any other type of electric sander.

Are you planning on using Wet Aluminum Oxide paper, at slow speed?
It will work, if your careful on speed, grit and pressure.

Can someone provide the RPM speed range for each numerical setting on the speed control wheel? For example setting 1 = 1000-1200 rpms.

Its 2000 to 6400, so 1 is 2000 for sure. I would guess it goes up 800rpm per number. Sorry I'm only guessing

Can this be used as a body sander ?

Yes the Eastwood Variable Speed Orbital Sander/Polisher(32489) can be used to sand the body of your vehicle. As it is an Orbital Sander it is not as aggressive as a High Speed Rotating sander.
